Default Beansprouts...

Hi all, I had my son 9 weeks ago and need to lose some weight quickly. His Baptism is in 2 weeks time and my dress is far too tight!

I am 161 pounds and want to get down to my pre-pregnancy weight of 140 pounds. How long will this take?

How much should I expect to lose in the first 2 weeks? I will be doing 1 hour of cardiovascular exercise every other night.

ALSO....Can I eat beansprouts?? Was thinking of a chicken stir fry for dinner xx

You should consult with your physician about when you can begin exercising.

As for the Atkins Diet, Dr. Atkins said that the weight loss phases were not appropriate for pregnant or breast feeding women. So if you are breast feeding, don't do the weight loss phases.

You need to lose 21 lbs... if you lose 10% of that during induction, you would lose 2 lbs in that 2 week period... However, given water weight you might lose up to 5 lbs...

To lose the entire 21 lbs might take up to 4 to 6 months... Atkins is not a quick fix... it is a change in lifestyle that takes time and effort...

You might wanna buy a new dress...

Also... are you breastfeeding?

Thanks for your concerns, I have consulted my midwife and she is happy for me to get back in the gym. Also, I stopped breastfeeding at 8 weeks. So no problems there either.

Is there anything I can do to boost the weight loss in the next 10 days?

Also, does anyone know about beansprouts and net carbs?

Goodness me, I never imagined that an online support group for weight loss would make me feel so utterly **** about myself.

For all of you who think you know better, my son and I have had some major problems with breastfeeding, resulting in him being admitted to hospital. We did it for as long as possible, until all of Mummy's milk dried up. It was on the advice of both the midwife and paedeatrician that I switch to bottles. He is thriving so much better on formula milk. I have had to battle with my emotions to give up breastfeeding, verging on post-natal depression because so many people have told me how much of a crap Mummy I must be to bottle feed my baby. I am crying writing this...you simply do not understand how much I wanted to breastfeed and how much of a failure I feel for not being physically able to do it. I bet some of you are thinking that I don't deserve to be a Mum.

So my only remaining request is this.....Please don't judge until you know all of the information.

Nope, not really... The best thing you can do is follow all the Rules of Induction and combine your cardio exercises with some strength training. Take body measurements too---often we lose inches even when our weight stays the same. It's inches that will make that dress less tight, not necessarily the number on the scale.

This is the Induction acceptable foods list: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)
You can see that bean sprouts are on the "Other Vegetables" list, so you are allowed to have 1 cup of them, assuming that day you eat no other foods from the "Other Vegetables" list.

Here are some other links you might find useful:
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...tion-faqs.html (Atkins Diet Induction FAQs)
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...pes-added.html (Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)

BTW, for the stir fry, what sauce are you planning to use?

Thank you all for your support and advice. I trully love being a Mummy but finding it hard to focus energy on weight loss whilst giving my son 100%. Many years ago I was 168 pounds and it took me 18 months to get down to 140 pounds with weight watchers. I was at this weight for 3 years, until I fell pregnant. Going back to the 'fat' me is like undoing all my hard work. I tried going back on my WW plan for a few days but it was far too complicated with a new baby

This is my 3rd day on Atkins. I feel very sick, tired and dizzy. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? This is what I've eaten...

Monday breakfast- 2 slices bacon, 3 eggs.
Monday Dinner - 3 small Chicken thighs, 1/2 courgette, 1 small onion, 1/2 can chopped tomatoes.

Tuesday Breakfast- 2 slices bacon, 8 cherry tomatoes, 3 eggs
Tuesday Dinner - Large chicken leg, 1 cup beansprouts (no sauce)
Tuesday snacks - Bag of pure pork scratchings (no carbs)

Wednesday Breakfast- 1 small onion, 1/2 courgette, 3 eggs, 50g cheddar cheese.

I drink plenty of water and 2 cups of coffee with 1 splenda per day.

Please help. I hate feeling like this

Very normal to feel this on the third day. It is what we call induction flue. You are transitioning to ketosis. Hang in there. It will pass. You have to count your carbs a bit. One small onion is a bit carby. Don't skip a meal and though pork scratchings are legal they are kind of salty so try and limit your portions.
And water. More water. Even more water- Just pure water.
