Default I cheated and don't feel bad

I went to dinner with several girl friends this afternoon. It was a Spanish tapas restaurant, and as much as possible, I stuck to the diet.

The ladies drank the most amazing pitchers of sangria -- and I refrained. I had chicken and chorizo kabobs with a garlic aeoli. I'm sure it wasn't perfect. The chorizo is processed meat, and I'm certain the chicken marination wasn't perfect for low carbing. But it was the best available on the menu, and delicious.

I fell off the wagon when we went to an artisan chocolate place. They sell the most beautiful (and expensive) chocolates by the piece. I had two, tiny chocolates. (A fleur de sel and a rosemary chocolate, if we're keeping track.)

And I know I should feel guilty, but I don't. By tomorrow morning, I should be back in the pink and completely on track.

Anyway, I feel OK with it. It wasn't so many carbs that it made me feel terrible (sleepy and groggy), and I've been extra careful the last few days knowing I was eating out today.

I'm going to call the day a diet success.

I'm glad you didn't completely jump off the wagon, and that you've got both feet back on now

Well, it's good for you that you can cheat and call your day a diet success.

I was terrified to cheat and mess up my Atkins because I believed that every step back meant a longer time for me to get to my goal. And frankly, I think losing weight---the whole process--- is such an annoyance and a such a big hassle that I didn't want to sabotage myself from achieving the goal. Two steps forward and one step back isn't my style.

the main thing was that you were able to get straight back on track. Stick with it and good luck x

I live practically next door to a Spanish Tapas Bar/restaurant and find no difficulty eating there - in fact it is probably the easiest place to eat out and stay on plan. They have a good selection of plain, simply prepared fish and meat, and I usually have it with a mixed green salad which they serve with an oil and vinegar dressing. Superb.

I finished induction a week ago. SO this was my first step off the wagon. I'm just happy I didn't step too far out! I'm back in the pink this morning, so I didn't completely sabotage myself.
I will say that I craved sweets last night after my long lunch and chocolate cheat, but I didn't succumb. It helps that I don't have anything sweet in the house at all. (My poor husband!)

Hi dthomps - you should update your profile, it still says 14-day induction (right under your usename).

i cheated all last week now that i almost reached my goal, and it's hindering my process

the closer you get to final weight, the harder it gets to eat right, knowing that you have already lost so much and know that you know how to eat right and can lose it again if needed.

it's a vicious cycle in your mind
