| We do use the 3 cups/day rule - 2 cups from the salad veggies list & 1 cup from the other list. There is a sticky with weights/cup for each list...I'll go find it & post a link to it here...http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...p-measure.html (Weight of vegetables per cup measure) Yes, max 20 carbs/day, most of those coming from veggies - so, for example, if you eat 18 carbs in a day, 10 or more should be from veggies. It isn't that you were doing it "wrong", its that the diet has morphed over the years - Dr. Atkins improved on the 1972 version in his 2002 version, and Atkins Nutritionals (the corporation that makes the bars & shakes) changed it again since the doctor died. We choose to go by the last version that Dr. Atkins himself wrote. | Thanks Julie for your quick reply, that really helps to clear things up & oppsite from what we have been teaching on the other Atkins Site. Do You Count or Measure 0 carb Proteins such as Meats/Chicken at all??? Your are not counting calories either correct??? |

| No, we eat meat/fish until we are satisfied but not 'full' or 'stuffed'. Some people choose to count calories, but that is totally optional. Those of us who have portion control issues or can't tell physical hunger from mental 'want food' thoughts are working on re-training our brains to eat reasonably, calorie counting is a tool that helps us with that process. I also find it helpful for planning - I know approx how many calories I will need per meal - so I know how much to buy/cook.
