lasix/water pills

i have been reading some posts on here and now i have questions. i take 1 40mg tablet of lasix and 1 20mg of potasium everyday for water retention only. it was prescribed by my doctor. i have been taking 1 500mg metformin/glucophage per day for about a month now and my doctor just upped it to 2 750mg per day. i am not diabetic. its for weightloss. he told me to watch my carb intake while taking the metformin/glucophage as carbs will cancel the medications effect. well after reading posts i see that lasix may hinder my weightloss? how is this possible? doesnt atkins act as a diuretic anyways? i see my doctor on the 20th of this month. he knows i am cutting down on my carbs while dieting. any help is much apreciated cause now im totally confused on what to do? no sense going through induction right now if my meds are counteracting against atkins right?

Clearly, this is a medical question and should be answered by your physician.

I have lost weight using both the medications you mentioned, however, I was diabetic and hypertensive being the reasons they were prescribed. My medication was decreased over a period of time and eventually eliminated. Clearly, your physician had a reason for prescribing the way (s)he did.

I don't see that any of the medications you are taking will effect your weight loss. If you are on induction now... by the time you see your doctor they may change your dose based upon what your numbers are 'doing' Atkins...

My friend was able to ween completely off of Metformin during her stint with Atkins because of how level her blood sugar always was by eating low carb...

I would at least give it your best effort and see what happens...
