| I hated when you left but hoped you would be back. The weight goes off very slowly for us but while we don't loose incredible amounts of weight our A1C levels come down, on a daily basis our blood sugars are under control which makes us feel better and makes us stronger. I hope you stick with us - I came to the decision awhile back that I'd rather be a controlled diabetic instead of fat and unhappy. Good luck to you.

| Thanks a lot Carole. I just had my 6 month check up with my doc and my A1c was 6.2! I was thrilled with that but my cholesterol was a little higher than he wanted it so he prescribed one of the statin drugs. I wasn't to happy with that but I figure if I stick with it this time and get in some exercise that will come down in the normal range too. |

| Exercising regularly will definitely make a difference in your cholesterol levels. And you will feel better too. |

| Thanks to a pantry full of non-Atkins friendly protein shakes that my wife might hit me over the head (repeatedly) with should I not finish them, I am not ready to re-commit to Atkins just yet, but I couldn't help responding on this thread to say that MrsChesterDogg and I must share brainwaves since I also thought I could move over to SugarBusters and get similar results while enjoying fruit and grains. Whoever claims SugarBusters is low carb needs to re-examine their information. While all the carbs come from healthy sources that may be consumed in later stages of OWL, I would hardly consider it a low carb WOL. Arguing aside, it doesn't work for me and I am facing the fact that the Atkins plan is my best bet...after I drink several days worth of protein shakes to avoid marital issues.

| I agree with you Eric. The Sugar Busters! plan is a very healthy woe. If one is a non-diabetic and doesn't have any weight issues it is a very healthy plan. For me, however, being a diabetic and having major weight issues it isn't worth much. My blood sugars are slowly coming down to where I want them, thank goodness!! My beloved husband has even joined me in this endeavor so it is even easier for me now. We are getting a freezer tomorrow and later on this week we will be filling it with lots of yummy meat so that will help a lot too. P.S. I really appreciate all the support from everyone here. It is the biggest reason I came back. |
