Question Advice PLEASE?

Hi Everyone! my name is Lileee & im just beginning Low Carb... i have the Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (completely updated 3rd edition - copyright 1992, 1999, 2002 by Robert c. Atkins, M.D.) book - is the one i should be reading??? i hope so..... can you all give some advice on Getting Started? im one of those that usually ALWAYS wakes up to Toast & Coffee or some Cheerios & Bananas... i mean Every Single Day... and i know that this is NOT what i will be doing now that ive chosen to go Low Carb... i have my Grocery List all ready with the Eggs, Meat, Butter, etc..... but what i need help on is Getting Started! how do i turn that Low Carb Engine ON?!?!? or turn the Bread eating Animal OFF????? its gonna be reeeeeeeally hard for me BUT if i can just get going i think ill be ok... Any Advice for a TRUE Carb Addict like ME???

Default Re: Advice PLEASE?

I ate a bagel & cream cheese for breakfast everyday for about 6 years before I started...I just cleaned all of the carbs out of my house (I was able to do this since my hubby joined me on this WOE & we don't have kids). I made up my mind that I was going to do this - then I did it. Nothing fancy, I just planned my meals ahead of time & stuck to the plan. The first week was rough, but I got thru it. It only gets easier from there. I feel like my brain has been re-trained - I used to plan meals around a protein, a starch and a vegetable, since that's what my Mom always did. Now I plan a protein, a vegetable and fat

Just do a 14 day induction to a "T" and you will find your desires changing. It all came naturally for me. I was going to do extended induction, but I am finding that I need to add those 5 carbs at this point or I will be sluggish. It's uncanny on how it is all falling together, on schedule, on it own. Its like Dr. Atkins knew "my" body and created this plan just for me. Its really incredible.

Default Re: Advice PLEASE?

The main question is: do you like eggs?

If you do, then it's easy.

If not, then will-power is necessary to get through the first two days. Thereafter, you should begin to lose weight, which is a great motivator for keeping to the diet.

Welcome! Like everyone said, the first few days will be the hardest. I felt great by day 5. Have plenty of legal snacks handy, and remember - eat when you're hungry! Your appetite will go down once you're in ketosis. Stick it out and you'll be glad you did...good luck!!

For induction-legal recipes you can take a look at the long thread called something like 'never ending induction recipes' in the 14 day induction forum where many members have posted their favourite 'tried'n'tested' dishes.
