| Drink a glass of water instead of eating. I keep a glass of water near me at all times and sip from it all day. Induction is the time to break bad habits Are you eating ant sweets at all? Drinking sweetened drinks? Skip them - they cause cravings for sweets in some people. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-response.html (Addicted to Sweets? | ants and water bugs aren't staples in our home...but we have different sizes of staples in case you need any. NOW...back to the question posed by our newbie. I agree with Julie to drink water -- also get up and go for a walk, do some crunches, butt kicks something to get your mind off food. If you sit and think about food all the time you will have cravings - if you need something sweet cut thin slices of colored peppers and eat them. You need to get your mind occupied so your mind won't trick you into eating something that isn't legal - you are breaking all bad habits now -- once you're into keotsis your body will stop craving sweets but you're going to have to get your mind to stop telling you it wants them -- the way to do that is keep busy.

| I like to have something fatty, like cheese. Also, I believe that chromium and magnesium are good supplements to curb sweet cravings. Best thing is to leave them completely alone, to break the habit, after a couple of days or so, it won't be so bad - and if you do suddenly get a craving after a few days, you may want to double check to make sure there are no trigger foods: some people don't get along with Splenda, sugar-free mints/gum, diet sodas etc, and sometimes caffeine can do this also. Hope you feel better soon.

| Anti anxiety medication can be very helpful... I would ask your doc about it. |

| Chromium picolinate is supposed to curb sugar cravings. I think L-glutamine too. Just FYI. |

| Nerves and anxiety can be such a nightmare - I used to suffer tremendous anxiety attacks that almost left me agoraphobic, so I sympathise. Bach Rescue Remedy, acupuncture, eating well, exercising, cutting down on caffeine and getting a good night's sleep are good for some forms of anxiety, (though Bach RR is alcohol-based so not legal in induction, even though it is only a couple of drops on the tongue/in water) - much better than the tranqs that the doctors sometimes prescribe, and being labelled 'depressed' - believe me! Hopefully you feel better soon.

| If you feel you need to eat (whether because it is a nervous habit or you feel peckish) I would make sure the only food available is something 'legal' for your Atkins phase. So prepare oodles of induction-friendly snacks(more than you feel you could possibly eat) and have them ready for those times you 'must' eat and you should not go far wrong. Eating a high fat snack or even something sour like a pickle (check labels for no added sugar in them) every time your body calls for something sweet will in time teach your body that though you are willing to feed it when asked, it is your mind's decision not to go for something sweet and that it will have to settle for something savoury instead. If you refuse to feed your sugar monster it will eventually give up and shrivel away ![]() Don't worry that you seem to be eating much more food that you need. As you get into ketosis you will probably experience the effect of appetite suppressance and even have to remind yourself to eat!!
