Default Newbie questions

Hi! I am going to start Atkins for the first time next week. i am confused on a few things and want to be sure I am eating the right foods as I will be going grocery shopping soon for the foods for induction.

I have read that you can eat ham, salami, roast beef, turkey, corn beef etc, but not deli meat? How can I get a hold of the correct meats to eat without making whole turkeys and hams? Any suggestions???

Salad dressings? do I have to make my own or can I use store bough ranch or caesar? What about at restaurants? Can i have ranch?

Thank you so much for your help..any other tips that you found worked on induction , please let me know!

Thank you!!!

Cori

Processed meats, including bacon, ham, salami & corned beef are tricky, because ingredients other than 'meat' are added to them. You need to look for ones that don't have sugar or grains added to them.

Same thing with salad dressing - if it doesn't have sugar, it is OK (all of the ingredients in everything you eat has to be on the list of foods acceptable for induction). Ranch almost always has sugar. Ceasar and blue cheese are relatively easy to find with no sugar added.

I hope this helps Best wishes,

Pre packaged deli meat usually contains fillers or added sugar. Its best to buy your meat whole and cut it your self.
Dressings- you have to make sure there is no added sugar, starches, etc. Sugar tho will be hidden with different names like dextrose or Molasses.
Make sure you read every single ingrediant list. Things i thought were fine like garlic salt had sugar and starch added.
Good luck
