That's what I've been doing. Sorry I gave the impression I was doing "my own version". But I also believe that everyone is different and after being on Atkins as long as I have you really have to try to listen to your body and try to figure out what it's telling you.

I like training on an empty stomach in the morning and possibly that can help release growth hormone.

So if (and that's an "if" no one is yet sure about) 2/3 or so of protein are converted to glucose via gluconeogenesis, only a tiny amount seems to enter the bloodstream. Of course, if one keeps eating excess protein and more glucose accumulates than what is needed by those body parts lacking mitochondria, then the extra glucose might affect blood sugar. But in your example, a meal with 12 g of protein should not contribute with more than 1 g of glucose to one's blood sugar.

Imagine that you're doing great, losing weight, feeling better than ever, thrilled with yourself, hearing compliments from friends and acquaintances---and then it happens! Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!" | As long as I'm eating the Atkins way I don't get very hungry. I'm usually ready to eat in the morning first thing, but after that I could possibly go all day without eating. I don't go that long because I'm diabetic and it's just not good. |

| You will get hungry every few hours as your body is burning up what you eat. Try making some food that takes a while to cook to get your mind on the task. Also, fat keeps us full longer -- but if still have to remember to move around and exercise if we're taking too much in. Try this. It's awesome (and can be made with turkey products). The version topped with an egg, without the bread, is perfect! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rt1iP5caz0c |
