Default Another atkins bars question ...

Well ive kept off from eating atkins bars since everyone says it causes stalls and I only eat them once in a while when I have chocolate cravings.

Well, I cannot lie about how handy they are when on the move and so I'm looking for a reason to give them another chance so here is my question:

Do atkins bars stall actual fat loss or do they just stall weight loss.

Would appreciate it if someone who has calipers or some other sort of body fat analyzer could answer.

Apart from whether they stall losses of fat or weight I would not recommend using them as part of your regime till you are at the Atkins phase where the ingredients are allowed.
So if they contain soy and no higher rung ingredients then rung/level 6 of OWL would be the time to experiment by adding them and seeing what happens.

I don't think they are the best way to deal with cravings myself. They do not really help you over the hump - just cause another kind of dependency to a processed food item that we really could do without.
Now I do get your point about convenience. There are some other things to do - like cheese, pepperoni, eggs, veggie pieces. Always keep a little cooler in your car and an emergency back to go with you with legal stuff.
If you must have chocolate - a sprinkle of sugar free cocoa on some whipped cream may do the trick.
Anyways good luck to you.

Most often they stall fat loss because the sugar alcohols in them are metabolized as sugar and have a similar impact on one's blood sugar. If you are one of those who has no problem eating sugar alcohols (other than spending your day in the bathroom, with a good book and windows wide open), then they may still cause a stall (no fat loss) due to food intolerances.

Since a stall is defined as no loss of weight or inches, losing fat (=losing inches) cannot mean a stall even if your weight stays the same. Those who report being stalled by bars often report not losing inches either. I say "often" because relatively few people actually take body measurements.

Imagine that you're doing great, losing weight, feeling better than ever, thrilled with yourself, hearing compliments from friends and acquaintances---and then it happens! Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!"
