Default Get out of ketosis quick

I realise this sounds like a strange question, but bear with me!

Basically, I'm gonna need to get out of ketosis majorly quick sometime soon, so there are absolutely no ketones present in my urine. This is because, according to Royal Navy medical standards, ketones in urine = bad - they'll take it to mean that I'm either diabetic, or starving myself, rendering my medically unfit. Obviously, I don't want this to happen, so what would be the best way to make sure that all ketones are out of my urine quickly, so when I have my medical I can appease the doctors before hopping straight back on the wagon? I can't think of another way around this, if anyone can, do let me know!

Thanks all!

We fall out of ketosis when we eat a certain number of carbs - for most people that is around 50 - Do you have sticks? You just have to test this on yourself and see what it takes.
Good luck on your exam.

Wouldn't that depend upon her CCLL? I thought it was 100g carbs would definitely kick you out of ketosis.

Nicole, I would think that if you added some of the higher rung foods such as beans/legumes, starchy veggies and whole grains (some oat porridge or some whole grain bread) that would do the job right quick until after your test is over. I'm not sure where you would pick up after the test though (re-do Induction or go back to where you were on OWL?).

Those are my thoughts anyways. It's easy to get out of ketosis...just thought using good foods to do it would be a better way.

I would use FitDay to track you foods precisely to make sure your carbs are high during that time too. Good luck on your test!

It takes me about 50-75 grams CHO to kick me out of ketosis for about 48-52 hours. Just carb load for a duration of about 24-48 hours before your physical. You'll be out of ketosis but your body will still be burning fat until your liver and muscle glycogen stores are repleted.

Getting our of ketosis and CCLL is not directly related. Most of us lose weight without being in ketosis when we OWL.

You wouldn't have to eat junk, like cake and ice cream--you would just have to eat some higher carb fruits and veggies (sweet potatoes/baked potato) and lower your fat intake. Ketosis is the result of high fat intake to low carb intake ratios. Maybe eat some whole grain breads. Just higher carbs, but healthy carbs, or you will make yourself sick.

Good luck!

Wouldn't they make an exception if you told them you were on the keto diet? I'd imagine they'd understand.

Though I'm sure your trying to play it safe I'm sure.

Of course you keep losing weight in OWL without being in ketosis. OWL is re-training an individual to eat in a very healthy and varied way. It's, I believe, a gradual way to curb bad eating habits and basically have an individual do a life style change.
I figure I'll start the OWL rungs during November, after I reach a certain, personal goal.

Thanks for all your replies! I think for a few days before [haven't got the date just yet, but it will be soon] I'll move to high-carb [but still healthy] foods - perhaps a maintenance-style diet for a few days? And Empyre, unfortunately I doubt they'd make an exception - there's still a lot of "Ohh no, Atkins = bad" things going around, and the heavily government-controlled doctors [the ones who will be assessing me] unfortunately have to follow their guidelines. Hopefully one day the medical world will come around to our way of thinking!
Thanks for the advice guys, you're all really helpful and supportive, for which I am very grateful.

No one commented on this but I think it is an important factor for Nicole. I did find this from an older post (ketosis in OWL?) by not2late/Megs:

Quote:
But a ketogenic diet is defined as one containing less than 100 grams carbohydrates daily. So as long as you are eating at or below 100 grams, you are still technically producing ketones.
I remember that when I tried Medifast some years ago that the "magic" number was 100g carbs. Less than that, you were still in a mild state of ketosis. (They recommended 80-85g carbs up to 100g carbs.) At this level the ketostix would never work but ketones will show up in urinalysis tests.
