Default What is wrong with my scale?...Or me?

Ok, first off, let me say that I know some folks don't believe in weighing every day, and I know food and water effects our weight, blah, blah, blah. With that in mind here's what's going on. It started about 3 weeks ago. I weigh every morning. One morning it's 190, the next morning it's 182, the next morning it's 185. So then I started weighing myself a few times a day. Within 10 minutes it would change 5 pounds. I thought it was the batterie. But here's the puzzler. My husband weighs every morning also on the same scale. And it never does that to him. His weight consistantely goes down about half a pound every day. Once in a while it'll go up but not often and not by much. He'll weigh in the evening and his weight with be about 4 pounds higher then in the morning, which is the way it should be. Just to be on the safe side I changed the batteries anyway. Nothing changed. If it was both of us I'd say I needed a new scale. But why is it only happening to me. And it only started doing this since I hit 190.
Anyone have any ideas on why it's doing this?

I think women's bodies tend to fluctuate a lot more generally and we also have our unique individual quirks. Hence the reason I weigh weekly or less.

I doubt your weight is fluctuating by 5 lbs in 10 minutes... Okay, so I assume you don't move the scale between weigh-ins, you don't step funny on it (for e.g., leaning forward some times or weighing on one leg ), etc.

Try weighing yourself with a 10 lbs weight and see if it does the same thing.

That's some quick weightloss.

Maybe you're in a weird / bad spot in the scale's sensor range, try holding a known weight of around 10 or 15 lbs and see if it does the same fluctuations. If that fixes it, you could always just subtract the weight your holding.

Thanks Guys, That's a good idea about the weights. I'm going to try that today. I'm always very aware where I stand on the scale. It's always in exactly the same spot and I also tend to hold my breath (so my breathing won't effect anything) until the numbers come up
