Ok.. so i bought this scale at wal-mart and its supposed to tell you your weight, water %, BMI, Bone Mass, and Body fat %... Well im not proud to say that i am currently at 242 and my scale says that my body fat % is 58%!! Is this possible? Ive always been somewhat of a muscular girl.. played soccer throughout my life up through high school. Before i had my son i weighed 145 but i wore a size 4.... Im just really stressing about the whole Fat % thing!

Those fat% things are notorious for being inaccurate. I wouldn't let it bug you, but you can see if it improves over time.

Deffinately on the clothing size. With the Atkins lifestyle you will find that a certain weight you will be smaller than you were at that same weight when you were not living the atkins way.

Definitely clothing size. I don't care if I weigh 8000 pounds so long as I fit into my high school jeans.

Do you really still own High-School era jeans? Mine would be museum-worthy! 20 years out-of-style - we wore them skin-tight right down to our ankles & really light blue...the 80s kinda scare me now I think we were rebelling against our parent's dark 70's bell-bottoms. The joke was on us!

Haha, I grew out of my high-school era jeans so quickly, they're practically encased in amber. And yeah, the style was late 90's carpenter jeans and such... *shudder*

Hey Julie! Those are back in style!!

Welcome determined! I'm with everyone else - don't worry too much about the scale - go with clothing sizes and/or measurements. If you really want to know body fat percentage, have yourself measured with calipers. Good luck!

Julie - they had a news report last weekend on the Today show how there's a serious rise in all kinds of infections (yuk!) because of the tightness of women's jeans these days! They actually showed a clip of a girl laying on a bed and her friend using the pliers on the zipper!!!!
