Default zucchini and water

Hello!!!

I can't believed I was in a bar yesterday and ordered a glass of bottles water and ice haha!!
This is crazy. We ate out. I got steak and salad with a side order of button mushrooms.
The steak came with blooming chips (after saying don't want the chips)
and I wasn't even tempted to eat one of them. My friend ate most of them for me. Anyway there was only a small bit of lettuce and cucumber, not even a cups worth. The mushrooms looked about 1 cups worth, same amount if I did them at home.

So I was scared about eating out all week, but there is actually choices I can make.

Also I keep seeing people mention zucchini.

Is this American word for something British.
I have a feeling it may be courgette.

Yep, zucchini is courgette.

It is definitely possible to eat out when doing Atkins, even during the Induction phase. Good for you that you didn't have the chips.

Imagine that you're doing great, losing weight, feeling better than ever, thrilled with yourself, hearing compliments from friends and acquaintances---and then it happens! Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!"

I've found I have less obstacles eating out than eating at a family gathering!

Here are some common translations. Maybe we could post a sticky thread somewhere that is just for a list of these. The sugars you won't use of course but I included them so if you see them on an ingredients list you will know what they are.

zucchini - courgette
eggplant - aubergine
whipping or heavy cream - double cream
beet - beetroot
fine or fruit sugar - caster sugar
cornstarch - corn flour
light brown sugar - demarara
waxed paper - greaseproof paper
peanut - groundnut
confectioner sugar - icing sugar
corn - maize
squash - marrow
light cream - single cream
molasses - treacle

These are approximate measurements:

1 cup is about 250 mls
1 ounce is about 30 grams
1 teaspoon (tsp) is 5 mls
1 tablespoon (T or Tbsp) is 15 mls

Well done Sta! We eat out a lot. You'd be surprised how much nutritional information is on the web for the chain restaurants (well, here in the states anyway!) If I happen to know where I'm going ahead of time, I take a look at the menu online.

I completely understand having to order water in a bar... That's why I'm on my way to rung 5...
