Default Two big mistakes!

I got home today and was home alone. There has been a bag of plantain chips that have taunted me for days, so, since we had nothing in the house, and with the prospect of an insane 55 hour work week this week.. I just gave in. I ate what was left, and felt horrible.

Which leads me to my second mistake.

I don't want to say exactly what it is, but lets just say the guilt got too overwhelming and I wanted it gone as soon as possible.

Anyhow, realizing that this would lead down a TERRIBLE road, I need some advice on what to do. I hate how food controls my life. When I can't eat what I want, I get depressed. Yet I feel elated when the scale goes down. I hate myself for it. I don't know what to do, and I know if I tell my husband, he'll be absolutely furious. Not with the first mistake, just the second.

He has every right to be furious. You don't have to say exactly what #2 was. You need to calmly examine your relationship with food. You also need to examine your concept of your body size. You weigh 128 pounds. You most likely look great already. Give yourself some credit where due. Don't be so hard on yourself.

If you really feel you need to lose a few more pounds, then don't start induction with foods that tempt you lying around. If hubby wants to eat those things, at least put it out of sight.

Make up a menu and go shopping. Buy Atkins friendly things that you really like. You can change your attitude towards the lucious foods allowed on Atkins so you don't feel deprived.

Attitude is everything. Make this something you want to do and you will feel good about doing it. Find foods that you can eat that you will be happy with. I've been eating this way for years and every thing I had for dinner is induction legal and I was about swooning and ready to lick the plate.

If all else fails, remember I only live 90 minutes from you--don't make me come up there!

Sunny is right -- you have to get the right mindset and get through a clean induction to rid yourself of cravings for sugars and other tempting foods. Have your husband put his snacks in a drawer or in the pantry on a shelf away from the food you eat. If he can't be helpful then stop buying "his" food and let him eat what you do - it's healthier than those chips you ate......

I realize what #2 was and it is NOT healthy -- and very unwise. How long have you been doing this? This might be the problem you have with food...and if so, you need help other than what you can get here.

You have 18 pounds to loose according to your stats - get though induction, go on to the rungs so you have enough time to find the foods that are good for you to eat with no weight gain, and which ones you need to stay away from.

Are you drinking any water? 64 ounces of pure water daily is the minimum you should be drinking....are you eating good filling meals or picking? Eating on a regular basis and only things on the acceptable food list? What exercise are you doing? It all works together to make the plan work - and you need to stay on course to loose the weight.

Good luck to you.

If you have an unhealthy relationship with food and it is not changing, get some counseling. If you can afford counseling go to an Overeater's Anonymous Meeting in your area. You have to approach food in a healthy way to succeed in life. Food will always be there and how you approach it will be key, even ater you lose the desired weight you want.

Hugs from me too. Do what you can but try to get some help if you cannot deal with it on your own. Sometimes things get powerfull and we need help.
I hope things work out.

Over the course of time I have learned that it is easier for me to put my boyfriends "food" on a higher shelf then mine. Then it is out of my eye shot and I can't reach it without asking for help. But then again I do keep some things (like rice and pasta) on my shelf so it is easy cooking for him, but no chips, candy, sugar, etc. It works well for me.

Just don't beat yourself up, I have found myself licking my fingers after baking a very sugary pie/cake many times just out of habit, but I have learned it is not the end of the world. I need to keep more focused next time.

Drink some water and sit down. Maybe read a book and just relax. Life will go on
