It is very easy for doctors to dislike Atkins when the patient doesn't understand enough about it to discuss it and correct the doctor's misinformation.

Do two things to get better informed.

1. Use Fitday.com for a few days and monitor all your food intake. It will take a little commitment, but take control of your health.

2. Read DANDR 2002 as suggested strongly in these forums. Understand that Induction need only be for 14 days and then you can move on to OWL.

I have yet to meet a doctor who objects to a diet of vegetables including those with fiber, fish and seafood, poultry, beef and healthy fats. And that is only Induction. Choices are expanded in a measured way on OWL. When I began Atkins, my doctor didn't get it either. Now he is a believer and uses me as an example to other obese patients.

Become better informed. Doctors sometimes jump to conclusions that Atkins is a nasty six letter word.

it's funny - my doctor is the one who actually TOLD me to do atkins...every time i saw her last year - allll she would keep saying is "cut down on the carbs!!"

It would be good to track your foods in FitDay (or something similar like DailyPlate or Sparkpeople), so that you know how much protein you are eating. We really don't have to eat a lot of protein on Atkins, because the diet is supposed to be high fat, not high protein.

And if you are bored with Induction, then move to OWL and try new foods.
