Default Eggs, Eggs, and more eggs!!!!

This is for all posters, no matter whate phase you are in because as we know, eggs are a staple of us low carbers.

If you are like a lot of folks on here, you don't particularly like the taste of eggs. I know I used to not be a huge fan and my kids wouldn't touch them. Scrambled, fried, over easy, boiled or however I tried them, I just wasn't a fan until I discovered, er, REdiscovered, FRESH EGGS. Now my kids love them and I actually crave them!

Forget the mass produced garbage available in most supermarkets. Look for locally produced, farm raised eggs. The difference between fresh eggs and commercially produced is akin to instant coffee vs a frothy cappucino (low carb of course ), or a piece of bologna vs a filet mignon.

Search for a local farmers market and even if they don't have any available, ask the vendors where to find them. You may be surprised to learn that fresh eggs are closer than you think!.

If you can't seem to locate any, I encourage you to buy cagefree eggs available in the organic section of most major supermarkets. The taste isn't quite the same but definetely better than the commercially produced. If you are price weary, think about the fact that the price difference usually only about 10-15 cents PER egg. I am not an organic foodie by any stretch, but the difference in eggs is very noticeable.

Good luck and happy low carbing.

Another tip for eggs: Scramble them in butter with chopped bell peppers and onions, then top with parmesan or cheddar cheese, YUM!

I make a pancake from 2 eggs and 1 tablespoon golden flax and top it off with Walden Farms strawberry jam. Tastes really good.

I HATE eggs. Hate them. I am curious about using eggs to make bread-like things, though. Do they taste eggy?

Does Walden Farms Strawberry Jam have strawberries in it? If it does, then it is not allowed until you reach the berries rung (OWL Rung 4).

Maybe you hate boiled eggs or fried eggs or omelets, but if you like things like mayo, then you like eggs.

Here is a past thread that might give you some ideas: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ipe-ideas.html (Egg recipe ideas)

I love eggs. Around here one dozen fresh eggs from the farm is 4.50 a dozen. I usually eat about 10 dozen a month. So it gets expensive but since that's the only thing I'm choosing to go organic on I figured it's worth it. And they are yummy

Nope, I hate mayo, too. But I am going to try the mock Danish!

I don't think Walden Farms has ANYTHING real in it. If you look at the nutritional label it is all zeros in all categories. It does have Splenda so I'm suspect of that zero at least.

Walden Farms is the epitome of frankenfoods.

I guess they are using liquid Splenda, to get rid of some carbs...

I'm not sure if this is the same product: Walden Farms - Original Walden Farms Strawberry Marmelade
This stuff has dehydrated strawberries.
