| You can eat denser vegetables if you want I think one reason why - is that we need to learn portion control. And we start by controling portions on things that are somewhat foregiving - like lettuce. But sooner or later we may want to eat oats and it is not going to be forgiving. So restricting portions is (in my opinion) one of the most important lessons to start to learn from induction. But I hear you!!! And really 14 days is not that long. And there will come a day where you may say "Oh I wish everything was no nice and uncoplicated as it was in induction" Hang in there!!!!!

| I'm an Atkins renegade: I've never limited my non-starchy vegetables - especially lettuce.

| *SIGH* Thanx for the advice everyone. I mean its not that I dont want to be in ketosis im just thinking about how I dont care about the water weight that comes with induction. But I DO need to learn portion control. I do eat other starchy veggies though! I will hang in there. Thanks late, liv and sheila(I love your site btw).

| I hear you. I've been doing this for 5ish months...and still struggle with portion control daily. I think I need to get smaller plates!

| on induction i was no good at portion control but also my stomach IBS and such was damaged so i was extra extra hungry all the time but the Atkins diet cured all my life threatning stomach illnesses and for vegetables i ended up mostly only eating broccoli during induction cause that was one of the vegetables i could eat as much as i wanted cause its so low in net carbs |

I admit, the non-starchy veggies typically don't cause problems, but it happens. I figure Dr. Atkins had enough prior experience with these rare exceptions during the course of 30+ years, that he limited the veggie servings for a reason.
