| Many people have problems with peanut butter. 4 Tablespoons is way over the "5 net carb" allowance and is a Rung 3 food. Drinking all your water with additives probably didn't help - I'd say the peanut butter is the culprit. Make sure you drink 64 ounces of your water PLAIN --- then you can add something to it. Start back up today getting back on plan and stay away from peanut butter. It's probably one of the foods you will have to add back very slowly when you get to that rung. Also remember everything effects your weight during the day -- like I said before, get back on plan today and stay there. Good luck

| I think it could be both. With the flavored water w/aspartame, it's best to avoid those products AND if you are going to have some, those should only be consumed AFTER drinking your minimum 64 oz. of plain water each day. That's how I broke away from diet soda and Crystal Light a couple years ago...after drinking all my water I just did not want any more liquids!

It might be time for you to seriously consider moving to OWL Phase. Alot of people mistakenly think that you should lose almost all your weight on Induction and move to OWL during the last 5-10 pounds. Or they think that their weight loss will come to a screeching halt if they move to OWL. In either case, that isn't so. You'll have more food freedom on OWL as you lose your weight. In fact, moving to OWL sooner than later will help you learn how your body reacts to foods and you'll increase your odds of keeping the weight off when you reach goal.

Sorry if what I am going to say next sounds harsh, but I don't understand why you are sabotaging yourself. I'm not referring to the peanut butter cheat, but to your water experiment. Why would you deliberately bend the rules to see how your weight loss is affected, when it is likely that not following the rules will not do you good? Furthermore, all that aspartame is not a good idea and drinking it on a day-to-day basis would probably not be very good for your health, even if your weight loss continued. So, unless you are ignoring the health aspects of Atkins by planning to drink only aspartame sweetened water, I can't see the purpose of your experiment. Especially as it takes more than one day of trying something (a new food, a new amount of an "old" food, etc.) before you can say what effect it has on your weight loss. Unlike what most people believe, what we eat today is not necessarily what will affect our weight tomorrow morning. Take care of yourself and don't deliberately sabotage your weight loss efforts. If you crave peanut butter, you can get a nutty flavor from flax seeds. Try making flax wafers, for example: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...al-wafers.html (Microwave Flax Meal Wafers). Or, as Megs said, it's probably time to move to OWL. There are many yummy foods waiting in OWL Land.

Well I was experimenting as per the suggestions I had read on this very same board. Someone asked whether or not aspartame really stalled weight loss and someone else pointed out that the chances are slim and that the odds of it stalling are 1 out of every 10 people. So no, I wasn't sabotaging myself, I was trying to see if I am 1 out of those 10, as I am sick and tired of drinking nothing but water for the last month. |

| I had my sister hide the peanut butter in a place "that I would never find it in a million years". It's just the weirdest thing. I am a person who would only eat a sweet every other week before Atkins and now I'm just craving it all the time! It was just regular peanut butter and I didn't even use a spoon. I wasn't planning on eating a lot so I just stuck my finger in. Once turned to twice, then three times, then four. So it was actually probably less than 4 tablespoons, which was 2 servings. I'm back to just plain water. I really hate it. There is this woman on youtube losing crazy weight an she drinks large amounts of flavored water everyday and I figured I would see if I could still lose weight. I guess I have my answer. It probably is water weight, but I appreciate everything you all have told me and will cut out both temptations. I'll also read more about OWL, I don't know too much about it because I saw myself at Induction for months because I have SO MUCH weight to lose. |
