| It takes your mind a while to catch up with the weight loss! Simple way to gauge this? Measure as well as weigh! You'll see indisputable proof that you're shrinking even if your eyes can't see it

| Thanks Stephbob! I think that, with the amount of weight lost, i expected to drop at least a pant size, but forgot I'm not a very small woman to begin with. I think i just need to practice a little patience. I will definitely measure myself. Maybe that will be my "Aha!" moment... |

| Well you've done fantastically already, so well done on your loss! I bet your clothes are feeling looser already. Another thing I love to do is keep one pair of pants and try them on every now and then. Mine are a pair of grey work pants. They went from being closet-bound after being painfully tight, so falling off me.

| I think it somewhat depends on how your extra weight is distributed. For folks who tend to gain all their extra weight in one or two spots, it tends to show up a lot quicker visually when they start to lose. If you lose 15 pounds and it is mostly all stored on your belly, it for sure will be easier to see than if you also store excess weight on your arms, thighs, butt, etc. and a little comes off of each area. Nonetheless, its still 15 pounds GONE, even if you can't see it as easily! (the tape measure can see it, though, even if you can't) For me, honestly, I had to lose about 40 pounds from my highest weight before anybody ever noticed (or at least noticed and were sure enough about it that they commented on it, and I am very easy to talk to so I don't think anyone was SCARED to mention it in case they were wrong)... my weight gain over my adult life was pretty danged evenly distributed across my whole body, which is a plus in maybe not LOOKING as fat as I really was (most people underguessed my weight by 75 or so pounds), but BAD in that if I wasn't weighing myself regularly in the old days, I could gain 15 or 20 pounds or so and barely notice because I didn't look DRAMATICALLY different and my pants and shirt size wouldn't really change, although some items might seem slightly tighter than before. I feel fairly confident that the more I lose, the more noticeable my losses will be - if you weigh 350 and lose 10 pounds, that's a 2.8% loss, which is nothing to sneeze at.... but if you weigh 200 and lose 10 pounds, that's a 5% loss, and hopefully a lot more noticeable! Either way, whether one thinks they can see it yet or not, you can FEEL it - easier to walk, climb stairs, more energy in general... and that alone would make every pound worth it. If nothing else, pick up a 15 pound bag of cat food the next time you are at the grocery store and see how that extra weight feels to hoss around. You already dumped that much weight! Congrats on your success so far - you are on your way and soon enough, some of your "big pants" will start falling off, LOL!

| I had a lot more to lose than you did...but it took more than 15 lbs for me to see it too. I did measure from day1 and lost in the strangest places. The first thing I noticed was my watch getting loose

| My ring size went from a 9 down to an 8... that was a positive sign... I took a picture of my self on day one and I compare it to my picture from 25 lbs down... it was a slight difference but it was there... I always lose in my face first... less puffy looking... I started in a 3x and now 37 lbs down I am finally in a 2x - because I'm short, it takes more weight loss to move down sizes... |

| I had to smile at your comment about your scale playing a cruel joke. I have wondered about my scale too! I make my son come weigh on it to make sure he hasn't lost the same amount of weight that I have that week. I started out with 200 pounds to lose and with 72 pounds lost to date, I still haven't heard a single comment. Not even from my husband. When I say that I had a good weigh in, he says, "that must make you feel good". Uh, yah, it feels good but I wonder at what weight will others notice? And by the way, if you question your scale you might question your tape measure too. I think, well maybe last month I didn't get it firmly around my waist like I did this time. Anyway, congrats on the quick loss. I'm sure you'll start to notice a change soon. I finally did see a change in my face when I compared a recent picture to a pre-Atkins picture. Good luck. |

| I know how you feel. I've lost 17 and the only time people mention it is if I talk about Atkins...then I get the obligatory 'yeah, you look like you've lost'. Plus, I was talking to my sister the other day, about Atkins, and she said 'you still on that?' I know that I am losing, slowly, but still losing. It makes me very happy - and I know others will eventually notice. I agree, patience...we'll be smiling in the end!
