Default Goals Post. Accountability. Something I need to do for me!

It's one of those things that tend to help keep me on the straight and narrow. Indulge me, please! Thanks!

Goals Post

-Have you made the decision to change?
*YES!!

-What are your reasons for making the decision to change?
*Control
*Comfort
*Confidence
*Health

-When you look at yourself, do you honestly like what you see?
*In a word- No.

-How do you really feel about yourself?
*Depends on the day, but I'm generally ashamed of how little control I have over some of my obsessive/compulsive behaviors lately.

-Are you confident, energetic, and strong?
*No, no, and no.

-Do you often wonder if you're on the right path?
*No. I know the answer is that I'm not. Here I am, again, starting from scratch.

-What are the pros & cons of continuing in the direction you're going?

Pros
Eat what I want when I want.
Sloth time.
Comfortable discomfort.

Cons

Binge/Purge perpetuates
Fat.
Weak.
Lack of confidence.
Frustration.
Anger.
Fear.
Discomfort
Unhealthy.

-Would you like to create a brighter future?
*What a dumbass question. Here I am, right?

-What changes in your body and life do you wish you could create in the next 12 weeks?
1. Control the food.
2. Lose 20lbs.
3. Gain strength & flexibility.
4. Be more proactive.
5. More meditation type activity for peace of mind.

-Turn these into positive, specific statements.
1. I will follow a clean Atkins approach.
2. I will remove 20lbs.
3. I will gain strength & flexibility.
4. I will spend more time doing and less time planning.
5. I will take time for meditation and prayer.

-Again
1. For the next twelve weeks I will follow a strict, progressive Atkins approach. I will not cheat, nor will I binge & purge.
2. In the next twelve weeks, I will do everything in my power to come as close to removing 20lbs of fat from my body as possible.
3. In the next twelve weeks, I will work out a minimum of 5 times a week to gain strength and flexibility
4. For the next twelve weeks, I will be more proactive in my personal and professional life. I will spend more time doing and less time contemplating and over-thinking.
5. For the next twelve weeks, I will take and make time for daily meditation and prayer.

-Which four patterns of action might prevent you from reaching your goals?
1. Allowing my anger and fear to be an excuse for self sabotage & self destructive behaviors.
2. Pure avoidance.
3. Making small concessions in activity/eating. All of those things add up and count!
4. Not enough sleep.

-Which four new patters do you need to establish to reach your goals?
1. Make healthy choices when angry/fearful: exercise, write, pray, meditate.
2. To-do lists and organize!
3. "To thine own self, be true." No excuses.
4. Get more sleep!!

**************
It all started yesterday- but *Inhale* - *Exhale* Today is the day!!

Such a good way to keep yourself in perspective. I feel pretty much the same way you do. Good luck and stay positive, you will prevail!

This is actually the Body For Life's (Bill Phillips) goal setting strategy. It's what I've used for 7 years, and it does the trick every time for me.

It's not about achieving a specific goal number, it's about identifying a clear cut path to get where I'm going and the patterns that got me back here again to begin with.

Posting it here is about accountability. I need accountability.
