And so, is there any protein in freshly baked pork skin with no meat attached at all? I never count it as protein in Fitday, just as pure fat.

I would suspect that all meat, even skin, has protein. How much, I couldn't tell you. Someone more knowledgeable than me regarding pork skins might have more insight.

I'd say a crackling had zero carbs but the skin might have a little protein? Generally the skin is kinda tough and I just like the fatty part. You could compare it to pork rinds which is the skin made puffy, but a cracklin has got to be mostly fat.
Something like 1/3 porkrind, 2/3s fat would about give you a cracklin. If cracklins arn't listed on fitday, you'd have to create a food.

USDA Nutrient DATABASE:

per 100grams, pork rinds have 61.3 grams Protein, 31.3 grams fat, 1 cab.

100 grams of chicken breast has only 20.8 grams Protein and 9.25 grams fat.

Yes. From an old paper of W. E. Henry, 100 g of pork skin (without any fat or meat attached; the thickness should be about 2-3 mm) has approximately 35 g protein, 23 g fat and the rest moisture.

I've asked some damn silly questions....ask all you want I say, that is after all how you learn. I have learnt quite a lot from Ericks questions thanks Erick!

Yes, I agree. Even after reading the book and the stickies with info on the board, sometimes you need things explained in easier terms. I for one am thinking of going to rung 1, but no further for a while, since I have been on extended induction for a few weeks. But I am still confused a little about how to go about it, even after reading the book, and reading and re-reading some of the links about starting OWL. Frankly I am a little scared and intimidated about stating...I am afraid I might do it wrong, because in Induction you feel very safe.
So lets be a little more tolerant.

Default Re: Eating fat only?

I'm just now re-reading the book and here is the part that is being discussed.

To be fair, it is towards the end of the book and it is in the area about not being able to lose, that some people might skip.

Quote:
Weight Loss and Good Health The Atkins Way The Fat Fast is one controlled carb program where you do have to count calories, I am afraid. You'll eat 1,000 calories a day, with seventy-five to ninety percent fat. Since frequent "feedings" prevent hunger better than three meals a day, I recommend five feedings, perhaps one every four hours, comprising 200 calories each. Because of the high fat content and frequent feedings, very few people on the Fat Fast experience much hunger. The stumbling block for some people is the absence of meals as we know them.
Let's look at some choices for a Fat Fast 200-calorie feeding. Each item equals approximately 200 calories:

• One ounce of macadamia nuts or macadamia nut butter

• Two ounces of cream cheese or Brie

• One ounce of tuna or chicken salad with two teaspoons of mayonnaise served in one-quarter of an avocado

• Two deviled eggs made with two teaspoons of mayonnaise

• Two ounces of sour cream and two tablespoons black or red caviar

• Two and a half ounces whipped heavy cream topped with sucralose zero-calorie syrup

• Two ounces of pate (check label for fat content)

• Two egg yolks (hard-boiled) with one tablespoon of mayonnaise

Also, it does say it is dangerous to people who can do the normal approach.
