| Well, alcohol isn't permitted on Induction. Plain and simple. The reality is, your body will burn alcohol for fuel before it burns fat, so ... yes, you will have a "set back". You won't burn fat again until your body metabolizes the alcohol. That being said, you're of age, and you can make your own decision as to whether or not "splurging on drinks" is worth it. I can tell you that your first drink whilst on Atkins can send you reeling ... so doing it in public might not be a good idea! And ... "splurging" on drinks might lead to "splurging" on inappropriate food. Again ... it's all your choice! You know the rules. You could decide that your night out doesn't have to involve "splurging on drinks" that might totally derail your progress. After all, there are other choices. If having a good time with your friends requires drinking, then ... Good luck with your choice!

| Hey Dave, How much it will set you back is different for everyone, but it is NOT allowed on Atkins Induction. Why would you want to endanger the progress you have made? You can still go out, but how about S Pelligrino water? And like Atkinsgal08 said, alcohol may not be the same as it was when you consumed it before Atkins, because of the changes on your blood sugar. Give it some more thought, ok?

| A few drinks turn into a few more drinks. That turns into a few appetizers, a few more appetizers & then the screw it attiutude appears & it is a night of eating & drinking. Then a morning of total dread & feeling like absolute crapola for about 3 days while you detox once again. So not worth it in my opinion. Yep been there & done that. Think long & hard before you do it.

| In my opinion, yes, a night of drinking will set you back.. particularly in the stage of atkins that you are in. Even in maintenance on the rare occasion I do have an... ahem.. "big night out"... I can easily see a 4-5 lb gain... I'm assuming this is water retention, but I have to uber cut back the carbs to get back on track and back to where I was. I'm 70 lbs down and several years on this WOE so I can do that every now and again (again rarely) without it being a MAJOR setback, however I'm guessing that type of gain would be a pretty big deal considering where you are in your weight loss journey. You've already lost 10 lbs! I know how good that feels and I'm sure you don't want to lose that feeling when you've just started! If you want to go out, go out... I do all the time and my friends love it cause I can be the DD and I've learned that I can still have a great time with a club soda and lime and I look darn good in my going out clothes now

| I try to stay away from drinks because they give me terrible munchies. Last time I did that, I ate a whole box of granola bars. Aside from that, when your body is burning alchohol, it's not burning your own body fat.
