| Well first of all, none of those food items are on Induction, they are later on in OWL. And as to where to but them, it depends where you live. I would suggest calling your local stores and asking if they carry low carb products. And many companies list the stores and locations they sell their products at online. If you surf the net for low carb products, you will find many, and also just look at your local store. Even Walmart carries many low carb products. But again, they are not for Induction anyway. Hope this helps. |

| Every time I try to add in foods that aren't real, I have problems. It works better if you don't do this. But you can try it and see. I never get enough veggies if I blow my carbs on something else. If I cook a roast and some veggies, that's what my family eats. If I cook burgers, they can have the bun and I don't. If they want something really tempting, they better be able to cook it themselves! But seriously the fruit and other things growing kids need are a real temptation. No one really needs white flour or white sugar or corn syrup. Its okay to make meals that are more friendly to you. It gets easier to say no to things too. So try the products at the right rung, if they don't work out, you can still do it.

I drink when I am thirsty. I am just a low carber. Not on Atkins at all!!! He has everything to do with my weightloss and nothing to do with it, depending on who you ask. |

| I am in exactly the same boat except that I have two young children who spend all day asking for carbs. Our house is full of goldfish and other snack crackers, kid-friendly pasta, etc. Anyone who has had children knows that all they want is carbs and good luck getting them to eat much protein. With all that, please forgive the following empathizing lecture. ![]() I ditto mtl in that none of the products you listed are Induction-friendly. I know - TRUST ME, I know - how tough it is to live in a house that is filled with those foods and to ignore them. I also know how difficult it is to have a husband that wants to eat his carbs so that you have to eat turkey yet again whilst watching him wolf down a gorgeous plate of spaghetti. It's damn near impossible to tolerate. However. You need to do induction properly to kick the addictions. You really do. Just tough it out for two weeks and then start adding in foods as the book says to do. At any given moment it can seem like it will be an eternity before you get to eat "fun" stuff again, but watching the weight come off will keep you motivated. Do I cheat? Yup. Today I ate two goldfish crackers that fell out of my kids' snack bowl and they were like a little slice of heaven. But I'm able to do that and stop there without falling off the wagon because my weight loss has been wonderful and keeps me on the straight and narrow for the most part. After the two crackers, I ate some walnuts to kill my snack craving and felt much better. Lecture over. ![]() I have had difficulty finding low-carb products. When I did Atkins the first time, before my pregnancies, they were everywhere; now I struggle to find them. WalMart has some items but in my experience, shopping online is probably your best bet. I wish you the best of luck. Doing Atkins with kids and a carb-loving DH in the house is sort of like sticking someone in the world's best steakhouse and telling them to go vegan. Atkins was much, much easier when I was single. |

| "Doing Atkins with kids and a carb-loving DH in the house is sort of like sticking someone in the world's best steakhouse and telling them to go vegan1" I love that LageNomai!! It is SOO true!! My problem is I have read the books, have pratically every LC receipe book and really do try and have tried for quite some time now and pray to stay on.. But I can't.. ;( I do well for a couple of days then I give in and have a burger WITH bun or sandwhich then the oh man, why did I do that feelings come and I give up. I DONT want to do that anymore, just doesn't work for me... So.. I figured the basics LC items when I am at a desperate need for that particular day would help me best and to keep me ON TRACK... The grocery stores here do carry LC items but to me they are higher in carbs than I see in the on-line stores so I would like to go that route but I want to invest in products that would taste somewhat edible but not sure where to purchase from.. Hope this makes sense.. I do eat right most of the time and this would just be an occassional cheat thing without cheating to much.. I do THANK you ALL for the feedback, I am really tryi g this time that's why I decided to join this board. =) Again, thank you all.. Any ideas are GREATLY appreciated! |

| Cynthia, Also why don't you go to THE SPOTLIGHT INTRODUCE YOURSELF and introduce yourself. You will be greeted with more helpful info. And in your signature, it is helpful to put some info such as your height, weight, goals, maybe your age, so in the future when you ask questions, some of that info is helpful when determining an answer. Welcome again! |

| Everyone has said some great things. I will just add my .02. This is just what I think for myself and just sharing that. For me...I couldn't do Atkins until I was ready to commit to it. I knew that. I did Atkins in 2003 and fell off the wagon and it took me 6 years to be ready to commit to it again. I admit I made one very weak attempt at it at one point during those six years but my heart wasn't in it, the commitment wasn't there and I only lasted about a week. My opinion is that you really have to want it, believe it and commit to it. If I know a particular food is going to be tempting to me, then generally, it is not in my house. My dh and 3 kids still eat pretty much what they want but I do the shopping so buy the cereal, ice cream, etc that I don't really care for (basically, there is NO chocolate in my house ). With pizza for example, it took me a good month before I could have it in my house. And now, when they have pizza, I have steak or something that I really love. Ok, I am done rambling...thanks and good luck. Jane |
