I've eaten a few things out like this over the last few months, very few, and did try to limit the amounts. I did not find they took me out of ketosis, but the massive amounts of sodium (my guess) did stall my weight loss for days.

Also I think even with breaded chicken, once you remove the breading you still get some carbs/sugars or whatever was in the coating that soaks into the meat while cooking. However, in an emergency situation, I'm sure it would be a much better option than eating the breading too.

So officially I am adding this to my EMERGENCY ONLY list of items to eat. But it is YUMMY!
I believe that Maltodextrin is a SUGAR and w/ MSG in the marinade and the seasoning plus the salt this sounds like a high Sodium meal. Caveat Emptor! Since ADBB is 'by the book' it's hard to get any kind of group approval for this sort of thing.

Each of us is confronted w/our own set of challenges and we have to deal w/ and navigate them as effectively as possible. I noticed that you asked what the group thinks of this product as an EMERGENCY food - not if it's acceptable to eat on Atkins. IMHO this chicken is of course better than opting for breaded fried chicken or fries or things that are totally not on Atkins. Atkins is a way of eating - not starving because there's nothing available to fit into the exact plan (and then eating anything u see and completely veering off course). I think that if u have a need for this as an EMERGENCY food it's probably fine ON A LIMITED BASIS - but that doesn't mean weekly or monthly -it means RARELY- maybe once in ten (?) weeks. MY vote is do what u need to do to make this WOE work for you HOWEVER, some of ingredients in this product may lead to cravings for sugar/starch and if that would throw u off course it's not worth it. Also, if u are losing at a steady pace this chicken may mess up the pattern, so you may have to get your weightloss back on track later if you have this.

Define for yourself what constitutes a need for 'an EMERGENCY food', how it can affect the big picture and make your decisions as needed. We make choices every single day (not just Atkins related) and these choices shape our lives and strenghten us; know your body, your needs and priorities and accept the valuable comments in this thread > but bottom line - only u are in your EMERGENCY FOOD decision - using what you know about the product, Atkins, your response to foods, life in general.

Stay on track (and get back on track after an EMERGENCY food), as needed. May your choices build you, not break you!

Good Luck!

Since there is so much sodium in it, don;t panic when the scale goes up tomorrow from the water you are retaining. Just wanted to give you a heads up on that!

Anyways, I tried it when it first came out and it was pretty tasty (got the leg & thigh). I'll be honest with you though...eating fast foods will certainly slow your weight loss. Just too many chemicals, questionable ingredients and a ton of sodium. That's pretty much the case with most fast foods too. They really aren't a healthy choice either.

For a once in a while treat (after Induction) it probably is OK but I'd expect to see some water weight retention for a few days afterwards. Sorry to be a buzzkill.
Thats one thing I've always wondered, whats with the high sodium levels in fast foods?

It is sodium from MSG, nitrites, sauces (ketchup, mustard, etc.), pickles, preservatives (e.g. sodium benzoate), etc.

And fast food rely on fat and salt to make it palpable and tasty. They do not bother experimenting with fresh ingredients, wonderful spices or good combination that make us love what we eat. They just add fat and salt. And idiots as we are we gobble it up and forget that food is so much more and should be so much more.
