Question I have a question about NOT losing.Ugh.

I started my induction last Tuesday at 259.

Woke up Wednesday....256

Woke up Thurs....254

Friday...254

Saturday...254

Sunday...254

Today....254!!!!!!!

Why? Why is my number not moving? I have very good strips that show alls sorts of things and I have been in Keto since (the first day I checked) last Wednesday.
Could it be because I may be starting (that time of the month) shortly?
Is it because last Thursday (the last time I noticed a loss) I discovered Diet Coke? I've only had one a day except for Sunday when I thought that may be the problem so I only had water yesterday but this morning again...no loss. GRRRRRR. Am I doing something wrong? I have had no carbs AT ALL. I'm not craving them either and the only reason I drank the Diet Coke (because I can't stand Coke) is because I quit the coffee d/t the no cream thing.

Any help or suggestions or opinions would be great.

It's normal not to lose weight every day, or even every week. But you might want to post a typical menu, including quantities, for us to take a look over it.

Quote:

All sort of things? Anyway, being in ketosis does not guarantee weight loss or even fat loss. It simply means you are using fat as your primary source of fuel.

Quote:
Could it be because I may be starting (that time of the month) shortly?
Yes, that's possible. Many of us gain water weight around TOM.

Quote:
Is it because last Thursday (the last time I noticed a loss) I discovered Diet Coke?
Bad discovery, imo. No one can say if it affected your weight loss, but Dr. Atkins noticed that about 1/4 of the stalled patients that contacted the Atkins Center were stalled by aspartame-sweetened diet sodas. That's the reason why we are told to avoid aspartame. Splenda has the same effect for some.

Quote:
I've only had one a day
Diet soda do not add anything good to your diet. My advice: ditch them.

Quote:
except for Sunday when I thought that may be the problem so I only had water yesterday but this morning again...no loss. GRRRRRR. Am I doing something wrong?
As I've said, you can't expect to change something today and be 2 lbs down tomorrow. It's not how it works.

Quote:
I have had no carbs AT ALL.
Uh-oh! No carbs "AT ALL"? Did you read DANDR 2002? Atkins is not a zero-carb diet. We must eat vegetables during Induction, and vegetables have carbs. We are allowed to eat eggs, and eggs have carbs too. We are allowed to eat cheese, and cheese has carbs too. And the list could go on.

Quote:
I'm not craving them either and the only reason I drank the Diet Coke (because I can't stand Coke) is because I quit the coffee d/t the no cream thing.
Cream (max. 3 tbsp) is allowed on Induction.

You really need to read the book. It's impossible to follow this WoE without informing yourself, and nothing can replace reading the book.

By the way, DANDR 2002 means "Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution" (2002).

Hmm, maybe I shouldn't have said "no" carbs. LOL I do eat eggs daily (for breakfast) and I do eat cheese but the cheese I'm buying is Kraft and it says "0" carbs. Not even less than 1...it's just "0".

I drink water with every meal and then some sort of soda. I've been getting Diet Rite which has Splenda and is carbless, calorieless, and caffeine free. It's not so bad.

Like I said, a couple scrambled eggs for breakfast

Lunch is lemon pepper chicken (0 carbs) and very good! Except today I had canned chicken (0carbs) on a plate with fresh parmesan cheese and a Diet Rite.

Snack will be a few pieces of pepperoni and some cheese with water and or a Diet Rite.

Dinner will be a lemon pepper chicken with a drink.

I drink water throughout the day.

I have not read the book but I plan on picking it up. I've been watching YT videos and taking notes from my sis (who has the book and is going to give it to me). She's lost 21 lbs in 3 weeks.

And about the strips that show "many things"....I have a friend who is an RN and has brought a couple home from work (which is why I know it's almost TOM; it shows if there is blood in the urine).

And I have had a couple compliments so I think I may be losing inches instead of lbs for some reason. I just went to the store this morning to get a tape measure to chart any progress there because not seeing the scale moving is a bit discouraging but I don't plan on giving up.

Where are your veggies?! You need to make sure you're eating 20g of carbs a day, most of which must come from your veggies. If you skip them, then you'll lose a little weight initially, but you'll soon stop, and then you'll gain the weight again.

Vegetables are part of a healthy life style and they are part of the Atkins diet.
3 cups a day is a must. (This is a rule)
Body may not want to lose if you do not get good nutrition.

Artificial sugars are not great - they are limited on the diet to three a day (This is a rule)

Kraft cheese is not allowed on the diet (unless it is the delux version) Too much milk. You need the hard cheeses (and real cheeses)
And the reason it says zero carb is not because it has zero carb but because the label does not tell the truth. With small serving sizes and if the carb is under 0.5 the label can say zero legally. Cheese carbs have to be counted (And cheese is limited to 3-4 oz a day) That is another rule

Hope you get the book soon (We use the 2002 book here)

And get those veggies out and start chewing - good for your teeth too

Anything with less than 0.5 g carbohydrate per serving will be labeled 0 g carbohydrate. You can use FitDay, the USDA database or some similar tool to find the carbohydrates in the type of cheese you eat.

FitDay
USDA Nutrient Database

Vegetables are lacking from your menu. You should be eating not more than 20 net carbs daily during Induction, with most of them coming from vegetables.

Get the book and read it, and in the meanwhile, read the info in those links Liv posted for you.

Don't delude yourself thinking that "Diet Rite" is "not so bad". Some people are stalled by aspartame, some by Splenda, some by saccharine, and so on.

If I understand correctly, you're drinking water and Diet Rite with every meal? And you also had Diet Coke for a few days? You probably went over your sweetener limit. Sweeteners are limited to three packets/servings per day. 8 oz of diet soda count as one serving of sweetener.

Quote:
Dinner will be a lemon pepper chicken with a drink.
A drink.... you mean, water, right? Or diet soda? Or some alcoholic drink?

And again, veggies are missing. Atkins is about eating most of your carbs from vegetables. Eating close to zero carbs and depriving your body of micronutrients won't do you any good.

Quote:
I have not read the book but I plan on picking it up. I've been watching YT videos and taking notes from my sis (who has the book and is going to give it to me). She's lost 21 lbs in 3 weeks.
Choose those YouTube videos with care. This is impossible to do if you haven't read the book. There are some good videos out there (e.g. Kent's - bowulf), but also some made by people who know just as much as you do, because they never read the book.

You should read the book yourself, not rely on what your sister tells you. It's probably better than nothing but, as you can see, not enough. A new book is $8. If you order a used one from Amazon, it's a few cents.

Quote:

So are you testing for ketosis... or for something else?

Ok, I'm off to check the Acceptable Foods list once again for my veggie of choice.

Welcome, and why don't you post your start weight/current weight/goal weight, and maybe your height and age, it helps the people "in the know" to answer your questions better.
Also, I agree, you do need to eat more carbs from veggies. Cut out the soda, drinks water, and do some exercise.
Good luck!
