| It's not a strange question ... just don't know how helpful it really is! See, everybody has different amounts to lose ... so everybody will lose different amounts. And at different points along the journey, you will lose different amounts. I had a whole run of months where I only lost 0.2 of a pound. It's not Atkins without exercise! Now that doesn't mean you have to go to the gym 6 hours a day, but it does mean you have to "move". I'm on Maintenance and have been for 4 years.

| Getting closer to goal and moving up the rungs I only lost about 4 pounds one month. I generally loose about a pound or two a week now. Now if I eat too much peanut butter, I can loose nothing. Of course you loose water weight on induction, so the first week is always more than is typical. And when and if you go back to eating carby foods some of that water weight will come right back. But the real fat you loose stays gone as long you eat reasonably. Sometimes people with less to loose look at the people with more to loose dropping weight more quickly with jealousy. But that's just it, when I weighed over 200 pounds it came off faster and I aimed for almost 3 pounds a week. I am not big on exercise. I just do some walking. But other diets didn't take much weight off at all for me. And I am a slower looser. Sometimes I've went off the diet for a time and come back to it. Its very hard to say how long it'll take to reach your goal weight. I think I've developed some really good eating habits as time went on though.

I drink when I am thirsty. I am just a low carber. Not on Atkins at all!!! He has everything to do with my weightloss and nothing to do with it, depending on who you ask. |

| It has varied for me along the way. Overall, I am probably one of the slower losers (Average so far is 5.575 lbs. per month,) but I am hypothyroid, 65 years old and female, so those may play into it. I also made a lot of mistakes in the beginning and exercise has increased along the way from pretty much nothing the first few months to my current routine, which is: Quote:
![]() I may be slow, but what is paying off for me is the fact I am persistent (read that stubborn if you like). I don't tend to be a quitter. I have also learned so very much along the way from the terrific people here, which I believe will help me keep it off once I get to goal. Last edited by ErinB; October 19th, 2009 at 12:10 PM. |

| I started Atkins for the umpteenth time on September 23. Today is October 16, and so far I've lost 15 lbs. It's my experience that the first whoosh is mostly water. I know I was really, really bloated when I started... and now I'm not. I'm pretty happy with the loss so far, though. |

| I have lost about 30 lbs over the past 6 months, so on average I have lost 5lbs a month. That being said there have been months when I lost a lot and others where I lose nothing. In my siggy I have listed the exact dates that I hit my milestones, if your interested.

| I lost 40#s in my first 10 weeks. I haven't weighed in a couple of weeks so I'm not sure what my numbers are now. I have major surgery in a few weeks so November will be a bust I think. There will probably be as many different rates of weight loss as there are members here on ADBB.

| I've been averaging about 10 pounds a month, but it is not at all consistent from week to week - from as much as a 5 pound loss some weeks to zero loss or even a couple pounds up other weeks... but by the end of about a month it seems to work itself out and averages out to about 10. Not drinking enough water, eating too much salt, and overeating cheese or cream in coffee slows things way down or even makes me gain a little temporarily... as soon as I fix those, it corrects itself again within a few days. I do some walking and this month have added some squats and pushups. That is it on exercise thus far.

| I average about 5 lbs per month... I'm hypothyroid, take hormones and other meds, don't exercise every day and it's going slower this time around... 6 years ago before all this stuff I lost 7 lbs per month. Doesn't seem like much, but it does add up over time... I'm assuming based upon the average per month that I will hit goal around Xmas 2010. |
