Default bacon

Is bacon truly zero carbs? and would it be the same as eating steak?
sometimes eating steak with my eggs in the morning get boring but like 2 slices of bacon isn't enough. I woudl want 4.

No, it's not truly 0 carbs! Most bacon is cured with sugar, so it can't be truly 0.

If you want 4 slices, eat them!

Default Re: bacon

You know I used to think I needed 2 eggs and 4 slices of bacon to be satisfied. I have found that less works just fine. (Although some days I still need more and do eat more.) If you really need 4 then have them, but don't assume you need 4. Try having 3 and wait 20 mins and see if you are full without the extra. Then try 2. Part of Atkins is retraining ourselves to eat until satiated, not full. Just something to keep in mind.

I've found sugar free bacon...hard to find (at least for me) but it's out there. If you can find bacon with no (or less) sugar, it would be a better choice.

I agree - I WANT 4 slices of bacon, and used to easily eat 2 eggs & 4 slices of bacon, plus toast, etc. Now I usually have 1 egg & 1 or 2 slices of bacon.

Default Re: bacon

I do bacon... I mean, geez, what's not to like???

But I've also discovered little steaks just right for a quick sear and go so awesome with eggs as well as cubed ham or cubed turkey, just fry till carmelized for the really good flavor.

Default Re: bacon

I don't want 2 slices, nor do I want 4 slices - I literally want 8 or 10 or most of the pack, maybe more. I have never let myself eat as many as I wanted, because I fear how many that would take, LOL! I think I've never let myself eat more than 6 or 7 pieces (talking a decade ago probably, WAY pre-Atkins), and usually have made myself quit after 4 or 5, but I would have gladly eaten WAY more. It would take A LOT of bacon to satisfy me, I fear.

Every once in a while if someone else cooks it, I eat the partial piece or two leftover and that is it. Never cook it for myself. It had never occurred to me before this post how little self control I have when it comes to bacon. I guess that is why I don't eat it on Atkins - I really wouldn't want to stop.

Oh, bacon... how I love thee... ;-)
