| What "everything" exactly? Can you post what's in them? Prenatal vitamins don't have as many vitamins and minerals as a multivitamin.

| The label should tell you whether they are okay to take. Did you check the ingredients?

| Prenatal vitamins are usually high in iron... Iron supplementation is usually not recommended on the Atkins diet unless your blood tests show that you need it... Prenatal vitamins are recommended for PCOS because they are supposed to have at least 1 mg of Folic Acid in them. If you switch to a regular multivitamin/mineral make sure to take an extra folic acid pill... |

| Iron will increase the chances of constipation. The closest I saw to DANDR basic formula (page 263-264) is "NSI Low Carb Dieter's Basic Multi-Vitamin", but I am not sure how this works with your situation though.

| >>u was advised to take them I guess to prepare me for pregnancy.>> To original poster ... if YOUR DOCTOR told you to take the prenatal vitamins, then do as your doctor has recommended.

| I was taking a prenatal as well, for the folic acid. I am in your same boat - PCOS, was ttc (want to become more healthy and slimmer before trying some more) ANYWHOOOO I switched to a multi "For Her 50+" It has the folic acid, but not the iron. I added a chromium supplement and fish oil. You should be getting enough iron from meat. Welcome to this WOE - I have found that there are great benefits for my PCOS symptoms. In your book check out pages 303-304 for what Dr Atkins recommends in a multi. (read the whole chapter for the best info) |
