| Here are some recent threads about the different sugar free syrups. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ree-syrup.html (Torani and DaVinci Sugarfree Syrup) http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ee-syrups.html (Davinci Sugar Free Syrups) |

| I don't use sugar-free syrup, but the gist behind deducting sugar alcohol carbs (or fiber carbs, for that matter) from gross carbs is that the carbs from those sources have negligible impact on blood sugar. And that's one of the ultimate goals of the Atkins WOE/WOL - maintaining stable, healthy blood sugar levels. (please correct me if I'm wrong, just don't spank me too hard...I might like it) |

| >>I am looking for a sugar free syrup.>> I've never seen one without sugar alcohols. What do you need it for?

| I wanted to make a flax pancake and put a little syrup on it. My kids had pancakes the other day and they looked really good. So I was looking for a substitute. I made a pork rind pizza the other day when they were having pizza and OMG........it was awesome. I found if I can mimick what others in my family are having then it helps me not feel "left out". Which I don't feel "left out" very often nowadays. Everyone has backed me up and have been helping me stay on track. It has really helped that "I" have noticed that I have dropped some weight. That just makes me want to push harder for more weight loss. I just started looking for SF syrup and seen sugar alcohols under the carb counts. But then one label counted it in toward net carbs. Carbs were 17 gms and after putting in for sugar alcohols the net carbs were 2gms. I have just never heard of sugar alcohols and was wondering if it was really calculated into net carbs like dietary fiber is.

| No it isn't like dietary fiber. Some people can use sugar alcohols and some can't. YOu would be much better off not eating them. |

| >> wanted to make a flax pancake and put a little syrup on it.>> They're much better with butter! >>I found if I can mimick what others in my family are having>> My advice is to create a new food life, rather than trying to recreate the low carb version of what you used to eat! In the long run, you'll be better off. Here's some information about sugar alcohols: Sugar alcohol - Yale-New Haven Hospital What Are Sugar Alcohols - Blood Sugar and Sugar Alcohols

| Regardless of how sugar alcohols affect blood sugar or don't, I know that anytime in past years when I have tried things with sugar alcohol in them I don't lose hardly any weight. If I was going to use something with them, I would do so very sparingly for a while until I determined if it caused any problems like that or not. This is just from my own experience... to me, it isn't worth the slowdown/stop of weight loss to have something that tastes good for 5 minutes. Maybe it won't affect you that way.

| Which is why I don't use them personally - the flavor is not worth a possible stall. I think we all can agree that what works for one may not work for another (and vice versa), and in that light, I'm okay with folks finding the groove that works for them. That's not a criticism of posting about one's experiences, either. Reading about others' experiences can be quite valuable as one makes his/her way through the phases, and Night Stalker will certainly benefit from the caveat!
