Default fed Up

I have been on the atkins diet for 1 week and i havnt lose an ounce and cant understand why. Last time I did it I lost about 51lbs in a week. I have been eating real food, not processed. A typical day is Breakfast: 2 boiled eggs or 2 sausages, Lunch: 2 slices of turkey, ham or pork from the butchers, Dinner: 2 real beef burgers or sausage and eggs or bacon and eggs. Throughout the day and evening I drink green tea or redbush tea from Holland and Barratts. I dont drink normal tea or coffee. Any ideas what the problem is please?

Welcome to ADBB!

You should be eating vegetables. Over half of your net carbs should come from them.

How much water are you drinking?

What are your stats? How much weight do you have to lose?

PS: 51 lbs in a week?!

And do you have a copy of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (2002)?

You should read it.

Not enough veggies and you should be drinking water. Are you using any sweeteners?

Lack of veggies is probably the big thing though. You should be having 2 cups salad, 1 cup additional veggies per day.

The book (DANDR...Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 ed), explains the acceptable foods. Also at the top of the forum are "stickies" with a lot of helpful information.

Good luck.

So you are in the UK? Check the ingredients in those sausages. They probably have some grains added (rusk or something).

Thanks for your replies. The last time I did the Dr Atkins Diet you could only eat protein for the first 2 weeks, is that not the case anymore.?

That was never the case, not even in the 1972 plan.

This thread should help you with the Induction phase: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...tion-faqs.html (Atkins Diet Induction FAQs)

It's not a substitute for the book though...

The passages below are from Dr. Atkins' Diet Revolution (1972). The 1972 plan was the most restrictive one in terms of vegetables.

Chapter 12
Quote:
PLUS NUMBER 2: GREEN SALADS PLUS . . . The second plus is that you're allowed green salad with your lunch and dinner. Yes, even though this first week of the diet is called a carbohydrate-free diet and lettuce contains a tiny bit of carbohydrate. But in biological systems an approximation can do the job. Biology isn't quite like engineering. Given the amount of carbohydrate in these two salads, what happens in the body is approximately the same in 99 percent of dieters as if no salad had been eaten. So why not eat those salads? They are a lifesaver. To eat just protein and fat without the garden-fresh crispness that salad provides is a drudgery. So I thank the Lord that greens contain so little carbohydrate. Those salads make all the difference between a diet that's aesthetic, appetizing, human, and one that's an uncivilized drag.
Quote:
THE FIRST LIFE-CHANGING WEEK. Eat nothing that's not on the list.

<blah blah>

SALADS

Two small green salads a day (each less than one cupful, loosely packed) made only of leafy greens, celery, or cucumbers and radishes.

<blah blah>
So, as you can see, the Atkins plan never said "you could only eat protein for the first 2 weeks".

Read the book instead of doing the diet the way you heard it from whoever or read about it from questionable sources.

And read the 2002 edition, because it really makes no sense following a plan that was written almost four decades ago.

Yeah since you're eating all meat I bet your body thinks it's starving.... get into the veggies, check the ingredients on the sausage, ham and bacon to see if there are added sugars, and drink lots and lots of water. Your body will thank you. xoxox
