| It's not only the carbs that are important, but the ingredients too. And a serving is not necessarily 50 g. Quote:
You should also keep in mind that Atkins is a high fat diet. Other than the Atkins shakes, which come with 15 g of protein and 9 g of fat (in 11 oz), the other shakes I've heard of are a lot on the high-protein side (for e.g., an 11-oz EAS Myoplex Carb Control shake has 3.5 g of fat and 25 g of protein). Excess protein can interfere with ketosis. Also, while you see many vitamins and minerals listed on the nutritional label, these come mostly from a vitamin & mineral mix that is added to the shakes. It would be better for you to get these vitamins and minerals from whole foods, rather than pills or shakes. And since the shakes do have some carbs, the carbs used on them are carbs that could have been used on whole foods instead.
