| Use eggs, olive oil on your leafy green vegetables and maybe find a good source of vegetable based omega 3 oils, if possible. Of course, use soy based proteins and make them fatty enough. The problem with soy is that it tends to produce too much estrogen and its aromatization, hence it tends to make your body retain fat and cannibalize its protein (muscle mass). That's why us guys can build muscle mass quickly, since we tend to produce the hormone testosterone and suppress estrogen esters, unless we get obese (male boobs, etc.). I'll be shot for this one but consider using a whey protein or casein based protein supplement. Make it fatty. Use Flax seed oil and make sure it is refrigerated because flax seed oils tend to get rancid within a month and rancid (oxidized) oils are very carcinogenic. I use, from time to time, a 1/2 cup to 1 cup of low carb cottage cheese (Friendship California style) before bed time to prevent protein turn over. But cottage cheese has a ton of lactose, which is a simple, kind of, sugar. Keep your carb intake below 30 grams / day and somehow keep your 'good' fats at about 60% of your caloric intake. Atkins is basically a high fat diet with the additional caloric intake from protein sources. I believe it is difficult to break into a moderate ketosis just using plant fats and amino acids. You can have 3 servings of cheese per day and a few tablespoons of heavy cream. What I do is sometimes is to mix about 1/4 cup of heavy whipping cream, a couple of eggs, Splenda or Stevia with a dash of cinnamon powder and make my own brand of eggnog. Be ware of my advise, since I'm a bodybuilder that is at goal and blessed with pretty good genetics. I'm using the Atkins right now to gain weight, then lose it and maintain muscle mass. I tend to lose ~ 6-8 lb per week, if I need too. I started out relatively obese and cut down within 4 months.

| Hey, I'm a vegetarian too. =] But, It is hard and there arn't many choices, I don't mind so much, but to others it could get super boring super fast. I eat TONS of eggs, some tofu and make guacamole atleast once a day =] Which is one cup of avocado, half a tomato (without the middle bit), quarter a bell pepper, and a sprinkle of chopped spring onion, blended. And I just dip veges in it, its real yum. I eat 20 net carbs a day, not normally less cause there really isn't many other options.. So its sort of atkins and sort of not.. Im going to add abit more net carbs as I go along though. If you want to message me about anything please do =] it'll be awesome to have a low carb vegetarian buddie.
