  • best stevia brand/store

I recently have tried some Stevia, I am only using it for baking currently.
I purchsed 'Optimum Stevia Liquid' from http://www.wholesalesupplementstore.com/stevia.html which was actually a fairly reasonable price I thought. $5 for 2-2oz bottles.
Some of the stats of this brand are, Alcohol Free, seviosides standarized to 90% and other ingrediants of glycerine/water.

It is OK but I don't really have anything to compare it to. It does seem to have a somewhat bitter aftertaste, I can probably get used to it but my GF doesn't really like it at all. Also do I need to worry about glycerine, couldn't really find much good info on it in terms of it's GI but it seems to be lumped into a similar category as sugar alcohols but maybe on the 'better' end of the category.

I was just curious if anyone else has tried this brand or any other brands that they would recommend or warn about. Would going for powder be a better way to go or not, I have read that it is harder to measure accurately. Also where (preferbly websites since my town has basically nothing) do you guys purchase your stevia.

    Thanks a ton!

Sweetleaf is the reigning favorite brand for all the lc websites I frequent. Whole Foods carries it. I have a whole box of packets sitting on my shelf, along with two other brands (sooolite, which is another favorite and wisdom of the ancients, which is vile). I can detect the bitterness even in small amounts, though, so I just stay away from it.

The specs on yours seem pretty good, though. The 90% steviosides is excellent. Glycerine is very low GI, but it may cause stalling. With the amount your using (a drop at a time), I wouldn't sweat it.
