  • HELP - liquid food?

I was tucking into a flax cracker for lunch when I found something in my mouth that shouldn't have been there - well, not in the flax cracker anyway. Half of one of my front teeth has just disintegrated!
I can't get to a dentist until FRIDAY so any suggestions for liquid grub would be really appreciated! I couldn't find anything much on the recipe pages and I don't really fancy liquidised salad!
Although it's only giving me a few twinges at the moment I don't want to munch anything too hard in case it aggravates it - besides more it it might come off! I've got scrambled eggs planned for tonight, but after that I've come a bit unstuck.
This serves me right, I've always been terrified of dentists and a three year lapse is reeeely making itself felt now!

Oh Squeaker! Poor you. That flax must have been really crunchy LOL!

I would go for soups if I were you. Here is a link with loads of low carb recipes. The creamy tomato soup is delicious. I quite often have soup for lunch and sometimes dinner now.

I can really sympathise with the toothache. I am going to the dentist tomorrow. I hate going too. I haven't been for a year as I really didn't fancy it whilst pregnant. Hope it doesn't cause you too much pain.

      ((squeaker))

My thoughts are with you! Linda's site has some great "soft" foods to try. Best wishes until you can get to the dentist...do they have you on the list incase someone cancels?

You can easily 'puree' any cooked food in a food processor!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

1 can condensed Beef broth+1can water
1 can tomatoes with green chilis (make sure no sugar added)
1/2 lb ground beef browned and drained (I use 4%fat so I don't drain it)
1 1/2c shredded cabbage (I use pre cut stuff found with the bagged salads)
I also added onion powder, garlic powder, a bit of salt, pepper, and some italian seasoning.

I browned the beef with spices, this time I added a few mushrooms, then added the cabbage to it stirred for a minute or two to wilt, added the cans of broth and tomatoes with chilis. I have also used chicken broth for this and it worked well. sometimes I like to add a cup or two of frozen squash and zuchinni too. I buy the mixed bags with onions and tomatoes in them. I think Birds eye makes them...

Anyway, this is very yummy. I am going to try to calculate on fitday the carbs and stuff. I would say this makes at least two servings.

OKay, I am coming up with about (for entire batch) 617 cal, 34g fat, 16 total carbs-5g fiber(9net)

I think the fat content is too high for the beef that I used but I already threw the package out so I am not sure...

The cabbage is very thin- angel hair it is called. I think it would be easy enough for you to eat... If you think the ground beef would be too tough try cooking it in the broth without browning it first and it will break up to tiny tiny crumbles!!!

Good luck sweetie! I too have a fear of the dentist and haven't been in three or more years!!!

              Re: HELP - liquid food?

              Hi everyone

Big to everyone whose replied - Zara I'm going to give the soup recipe a go, and Rikki - as it happens I'd got some mince out the freezer for the "others" lasagne for tonight, so they're just going to have to have half a pound less!
This couldn't have happened at a worse time, I couldn't have gone to an appointment today even if I'd have been able to get one - I've got a first beginners German language course and would have looked a right pillock if I went with a frozen mouth! But it's a bit tough to have to wait until friday - mind you finding a dentist in these parts is like looking for hen's teeth.

                You poor thing.

I can't imagine speaking trying to speak German with a broken tooth let alone with one that is frozen. My heart goes out to you!
