  • Do you stay on plan when you go on vacation?

    Hi Guys

What do you do on vacation? Stick to the plan? Give yourself a week off? Switch to maintenance (as mentioned in DANDR)?

I am going in 20 days - YAY and want to plan this well. Normally, I would just give myself the week off and then work extra hard the following week. Thing is, I am not even craving carbs so don't really want to spoil that.

    What do you do?

I stick to the plan. Like you, I don't even crave the carbs. When we went to Laguna Beach this summer, I told myself I could go to the bakery and get a pastry if I wanted to. I looked, realized there was nothing there that I really wanted, and walked out.

I stay on plan (for the most part). Like Finelly says, there's really nothing carby that I want to eat. If I were going to stray then it would be to have some wine, or a fancy drink, or if there was an exotic fruit or something that I would totally never get to eat again in my life then I would try a small bit of it. I don't think of this WOE as being deprivational (is that a word??) at all, but sometimes when you are away you don't know what's in all the sauces etc. I would try really hard and keep up with some exercising and the water, and then get right back on track when you get back. Just stay away from sugary/carby stuff like you are now. Pretty Woman. lol. Where are you going? Did I miss a post somewhere?

Re: Do you stay on plan when you go on vacation?

Thanks Guys. I am going to Malta. It should be great. We will probably eat out at lunch times and then have a snack in the evenings (as my baby daughter likes her bed at 7pm!). Luckily, hubby has splashed out on a suite so I can still make soup, flax bread etc. I have decided to take two packets of flax with me as I don't know if I can buy it there.

As you say, I think I'll be able to stick with it. I will be on the legumes rung by then so will be able to drink alcohol and have hummous etc. What more could I want LOL!

I guess the only thing would be that I may creep over my 20g allowance but as long as I don't go mad, I should be able to at least maintain my weight that week.

I honestly can't believe it, I would have always used a holiday as an excuse to binge out before. Just shows it does retrain you.

        Thanks guys

I'd stay on plan. Going off plan would not be an option for me - why the heck would I [a] want to be sick on my vacation, and [b] work against all my hardwork thus far?

Re: Do you stay on plan when you go on vacation?

I have stayed on plan for vacation, which doesn't make sense that I did all my binging at home where the food wasn't that good.

Yes, you will FEEL better sticking to this WOE, and since you're not feeling particularly deprived, why take those newly fitting rings off again when you can WEAR them and eat well, too.

Sounds like you are doing the right thing and planning it out. Have a great time and let us know how it's going, if you can.

Definately stay on it...I've never completely fallen off the wagon and while I post in stac I'm not really a member...I just jump around...anyway...stay on, that way you'll enjoy your vacation 10 times more. The few times I've eaten something I shouldn't I feel sick...worse than Induction flu sick...and...well...I have to make lots of trips to the bathroom and I feel like I'm gonna hurl. Not a fun way to enjoy a vacation right! Lol! It sounds like you're planning ahead already though...good for you!!! Going in prepared will be your best bet for success!

A suite huh? Wow...that sounds super cool!!!! Have fun! I bet you could get the hotel chefs to modify anything you want.
