  • Snickers Marathon Energy Bars

Has anyone tried the new Snickers Marathon Energy Bars? I found these last week and I love them!!! They are only 3 grams net carbs per bar. I froze them and just broke off a piece whenever I had a chocolate craving so 2 of them lasted me about 6 days.

You can check them out at here.

    Not allowed on Induction

    Toni,

I hate to burst your bubble, but those are not allowed on Induction. Actually, I don't think that they are allowed on any phase of the Atkins program, but someone from up the ladder could best answer that one.

The induction food list does not include any "franken foods" as you are retraining your mind and body to eat whole, unprocessed foods. Also, the first two weeks of the diet are designed to take away those cravings. They might taste yummy, but they aren't good for you.

      Deb,

I knew these weren't allowed on induction but I caved anyway and gave in to the craving monster a couple of times last week. Not exactly proud of myself but they did take away the cravings.

      Thanks for your concern hun!

        Toni,

Oh, ok. I just didn't want you to get hooked on them. They are addictive little suckers!

          Re: Snickers Marathon Energy Bars

You guys are right, they are not allowed on induction, as induction is here to stifle those cravings and get control of them.
Saying that, this board is just here to support eachother, and one thing we found out (cause 20,000 folks have stopped by in the last 3 years) was that some folks can eat bars and shakes and lose weight every week. But more often than not, folks will complain that they are stalled and when asking what they were eating they would say they had a bar for lunch or a shake for dinner. Our bodys metabolise food differently and many of us can't do sugar alcohol.
For any new person who is reading this, aim for a perfectly clean two week induction before you stray in any way. Its just two weeks and its will give you the best start possible. After the two weeks, if bars or shakes are something that you feel you need to try, then add them in gradually but if your weight loss stalls out, those should be the first things you toss .
What can be confusing is that atkins.com does promote frankenfoods as they make $$ off them. Atkins cookbooks, written before the DANDR, doesn't follow the same induction program because it was pre DANDR.
