  • Cottage Cheese?

I thought cottage cheese was not allowed during induction, and yet the induction menu has it listed as a breakfast option ( Friday breakfast page 203 hardcover dandr -2000) Is this a typo? or is it actually allowed? Does anyone know?

    Re: Cottage Cheese?

This site follows DANDR, version 2002, and no, cottage cheese isn't allowed during Induction but it's added back on the dairy rung in OWL.
Perhaps in the 2000 version, Dr. Atkins allowed it, but not in the 2003 version.

I'm in maintenance and yet I eat cottage cheese very sparingly, even though I love it!

in order to help as amny folk as possible be big induction losers with the least amount of cravings and other problems Dr Atkins changes the induction acceptable foods in the 2002 version of DANDR to only have the low GI foods and cottage cheese still has milk sugar in it so it is out for the first 14 days. if you need the revolution roolz changed from cottage cheese to leagl cream cheese not2late has posted it in the induction stickies section.

Actually I made a mistake. The copy I have is 2002 publication date. It is white with a picture of Dr. Atkins on the front. Accent colors are primary red and blue. Is this the copy I should be using? What does the cover look like on the book this forum uses? There are several. (p.s. I am not eating cottage cheese--was just curious if I had missed something--It isn't listed on induction foods, but as I said, it is listed in the induction menu on page 203. I'm thinking it was a typo)

I love it and have it all the time with berries or melon. The lowest-carbohydrate 4% cottage cheese I have found, at 6 grams per cup, are Friendship and Target brand. The other 4% ones can go up to a whopping 12 grams of carbohydrates per cup, so I have to keep an eagle eye!

              Re: Cottage Cheese?

Just in case anyone reading this thread hasnt read all the comments about cottage cheese - please note that Sheila and Betty are both on the maintenance phase of Atkins and therefore like anyone who has reached or passed the Dairy rung are able to eat cottage cheese if they wish.
Anyone on induction needs to wait till OWL to introduce it to their menus.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
