  • 2 weeks down..2000 to go

Well I just finished two weeks of a sparkling clean induction. And ive lost 14 lbs. 10 lbs the first week and 4 lbs the next.
This week i really have been working on portion control and drinking that water..also getting a daily walk in. I actually broke down and bought a treadmill so i would have no excuses with bad weather and all. I would love to do strength training..but going to a gym isnt an option so i need to find out how to do that at home..without buying costly equiptment. If anyone can suggest something id appreciate it. I heard push-ups is good..but honestly, i cant do ONE.
I do feel a little overwhelmed because I have sooo much weight to lose. And i just want to start feeling better. Everyday is a struggle..making the right choices..taking the time out for me so that i can make healthy meals, etc.
I know i should just look at it one day at a time. Its funny how strong denial is..and u dont notice the weight coming on. Even when i would try on clothes for example of my previous size..and they werent fitting..i tell myself it must be a small cut. Never occuring to me that it was my *** getting too big and not the pants being too small. HA. And then u see a pic of yourself and its like Whos that fat lady wearing my clothes?
Then all the stress ive been thru the past several years. I used to think i deserve this piece of cake..no ones been thru what i have..i deserve to be rewarded. Now i realize to truly reward myself is to take care of myself..and put myself first for a change. Ive never ever done that before.
Ok enough of my ramblings...im moving on to the extended induction board. See you all there! Good luck to everyone on your journeys.

Congratulations on your successful two week Induction! It sounds like you've done some great thinking about your food choices and you're developing the mental process for success. The war on weight is won or lost in the mind. Keep up the good work!

As far as strength training at home, you could possibly look into a couple of books or DVDs. I know you can do strength training with resistance bands.

      Hi Claudi,

Congrats on the weight you'velost so far and on the first two weeks

Sorry to hear you've had a tough time. I'm sure lots of people here would say that getting in control of your health and fitness is one of the best, if not the best, way to cope with stress, so you're heading in the right direction.

When I first starting lifting I only did it at home, and even now at the gym I prefer free weights to machines. It can be restrictive if you don't have a bench at home (I never have had) but there are other tings you can do, or a bench can be fairly cheap.

A good site for women, and quite funny in places, on weights is this one: http://www.stumptuous.com/cms/index.php Which unde r'training' has a section on making a home gym, and loads of other stuff.

When I started I was doing Body for Life, which can be quite good and their site has some exercise demos: http://www.bodyforlife.com/exercise/animations.asp

The ADBB exercise of the day, now run by Bradybunch (I think) but previously by Outback Jess has los of good home workout ideas. Found in the exercise forum: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...splay.php?f=14

Hope that helps and good luck with this WOL

Well done so far, Claudia Keep up the good work!!
I am about your height and started at about the same weight give or take 10 pounds, so I know it can be done.
Your comment about 'the fat lady in the photo wearing my clothes' hit home with me. I have a photo of me at my highest weight on display in our shop (taken when I was doing some glassblowing) and I get a kick out of people saying 'What happened to the lady that used to run this shop?' when they see it and dont realise it was me.
I'm sure you will have the same feeling in the future and look forward to sharing your Atkins progress !
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
