  • First Atkins Weekend...

    Hello All,



    I am getting ready to go into my first Atkins weekend. I know I will have to spend the whole day Saturday with my pregnant sister-in-law, who currently eats everything in sight. Constant snacking the whole time she is awake…not good stuff either…chips & dip, candy, cakes, you get the idea. The poor child will come out asking for nachos or something.



    Anyway, what should I do to have food? What would you take? HELP!!!

    For me, I always take chunks of chicken, a string cheese, tuna salad that I eat inside lettuce leaves, water (lots of water), avacado, celery & green pepper slices, boiled eggs, or any of the legal foods that I can take in a small cooler or inside a lunch tote bag with a blue ice.

    I usually take these kinds of foods no matter where I go or who I'll be with. That way I am always prepared for whatever comes up. Make up a plan to have when you are visiting your sister-in-law. Let her eat what she wants or maybe you'll influence her to start eating more healthy.

      I had 2 birthday parties to go to yesterday, and there was loads of really nice (but carb laden) food and loads of ice cold beer to tempt me. The first one started at 3pm and the second one didn't finish until about 3am so I had to be well prepared!

      I took a massive tub of chicken drumsticks, a lamb & mint salad and as much willpower as I could muster! I surprised myself actually, I didn't drink any alcohol (just water all day/night) and whenever I got cravings I ate a piece of chicken.

        I made it through my family fun too. I also took drumsticks! Would you share the recipe for a mint salad, it sounds refreshing.

          Well done!

          The salad was just an ordinary mixed leaf salad with some fresh mint chopped up and thrown in. I was having it with lamb leg steak so I thought it'd be an alternative to mint sauce. It was OK but but I think next time I'll just mix chopped mint in with mayo and have it on the side.

            Wow, mint mayo...yummo. I would love something greek tasting right now and lamb would be awesome.
