  • Difference in pork rinds

I NEVER ate the things before starting this WOE and now I feel like I am turning into a conessier (sp). I have noticed that there are definate differences. I happen to prefer the Wal-Mart brand as they don't have that dry, choking texture that a lot of brands do. I can eat my cup of pork rinds without having something to drink after everybite. They are also good to use in place of chips/crackers as they tend to be flatter. I have even made tuna melts with them.

I also like pork cracklings that are sold near the meat department. They are nice and small and crunchy like popcorn. They also tend to have a lot more flavor than your standard pork rinds.

That does sound good... refried pork cracklings. I can even see adding flavoring like garlic or season salt. How long do you cook them?

        wal mart pork rinds

after trying all the differnt brands of pork rinds, I also agree that I like the wal mart brand the best. they are also the cheapest. I usually buy the regular for mixing into recipes and the BBQ for eating right out of the bag.

I usaully cook for 5-10 minutes depending on how much I want to cook. They taste much better and get bigger when you cook them in some cooking oil and seasoned salt makes them have extra flavor too. Try some cinnamon, splenda and metled butter. Thoose taste great too and a yummy dessert.

            Pork rinds

Well, I went to Walmart today specifically to buy the pork rinds, after reading these posts. It was a 40 minute round-trip, and guess what? They were out-of-stock! So, instead, I bought a bag of the ones made by Fritolay, in the barbecue flavor. I'm not kidding, those were so spicy hot, my mouth was on fire! Did I get a bad bag, or all all the barbecue pork rinds so spicy? Are the Walmart (Sam's choice I think it's called?) barbecue pork rinds as spicy as this other brand?

Donna, I am sorry that happened to you... I find all brands of spicy pork rings to be too spicy for me... (and I even like spicy things). Any one else out there have any recommendations?

I have been also learning to like these wird things. I was wondering if anyone could tell me exactley what they are??? Is it fried skin?

Also has anyone heard of not drinking anything while you eat until after your finished, so you do not dilute your stomach acids, so I guess your food will digest quicker?
I also was wondering if anyone could explain to me how I can shrink a graphic down to put on my post??? Thanks yall!!!!

I, too, find the Frito-Lay BBQ Pork Skins REALLY hot... but I take advantage of all that heat, because if I have a couple of bites, I grab my water bottle and start drinking... and since I can't stand water, it helps me get a lot of my water down. Maybe not the best method of getting the water down, but it's working for me! I started the WOL 2 months ago today, and I've lost 45 pounds

I didn't realize that Kroger sells this brand, and that they are usually Buy one Get one free! There is a gas station in a city we sometimes pass through, and when we do, I always buy them out--bbq flavor. I read the ingredients, and they do list sugar, but it doesn't seem to affect the carb count. I wonder why not?

You know... I discovered that Frito Lay actually makes a BBQ Pork rind... and they are delicious! The ones I had been eating before that I thought were "BBQ" were "Hot and Spicy"--emphasis on HOT!

I like them both, but my favorite are ones I've found in Asian grocery stores.... salt and vinegar. YUM!

I really like the Food Lion BBQ flavored ones. You have to hit the store just right though as they are always out! I'll have to go try the WalMart ones as well.

                              Thanks for the tip!!
