Recently diagnosed type 2

Hey everyone. Just found out last week I have type two diabetes. Started atkins the next sunday so I'm really gonna try to kick this in the butt. Just wanted to say hit to everyone!

Good luck Dave! Check out the Century Club~~~many great people there. My friend Sherri aka Motherearth will be a great resource regarding getting rid of Type 2 diabetis. Check out her journal.

Post often, ask questions, keep your DANDR book handy to refer to often, start your own journal & maybe join a challenge or two. This board is wonderful & you'll find a ton of support & knowledge along with some fantastic friends!

Hi Dave! Welcome to the board. I would strongly suggest you read the info in this forum as it is wonderful information. Knowledge is power! Control your diabetes before it controls you. You have made a huge step in that direction with starting Atkins!

Hi Dave...I too am type 2 diabetic taking meds and 2 insulin injections daily. I started atkins 2 weeks ago and in 1 week I had stopped having my injections and have halved my blood pressure meds. Hope this gives u an idea of how great this woe is for us diabetics. My blood sugars are perfect and stable and I feel great. Of course you should never stop taking your meds without your doctors support. I am so lucky to have a great doctor who supports me 100% on my weight loss journey with atkins. I wish I hadn't waited 5 yrs to do this.

Hi Dave, welcome! Following the Atkins WOE will quickly show awesome results in lowering and regulating your blood sugar, weight and blood pressure. Works for me and my doctor is amazed about the results.

hiya I have recently (last week) been diagnosed as a diabetic type 2 .I was wanting to start the atkins but when I spoke to my nurse she told me that I had high cholestral also and that it was not advisable for me to start a low carb diet because it would put up my cholestral further and put me at risk of a heart attack. she has not put me on any medication for diabetes as she has given me a month to lose weight. my blood pressure is normal. she told me start exercise and start a low fat low sugar plan.any advise guys should i do the atkins and surprise her with the results?
