  • Sweet Tooth HelP!!

    Hi everyone,

I was curious to know what some induction friendly deserts are to cure my sweet tooth. I've been craving peanut butter as well as ice cream. Anything will help!

I have sugar free jelly leave it til its nearly set & them whip it up with some cream... I find it just takes the edge off my sweet craving... not that I have that many of them anymore!

If I can repeat failure.. then I can repeat success!

I don't think sugar free jello is technically induction friendly (I know some people stall from it too)... then again, I've been way wrong before. I make some whipped cream if I want a dessert, there's also like, cream cheese or butter if you add some sweetener to it.

I'd fight through it - the craving will all dissapear once you are clean. In the mean time eat some cheese - drink lots of water and if youa re dying chew some SF gum

You can go to Linda's Low Carb Menus.
She has some induction friendly deserts. I just went through this last night. I ended up making a cup of decaf tea. It helped get me over the edge.

if you really have to have something sweet here's a suggestion or two.

try the mock danish here's a link for the recipe on linda's site
Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes or you could buy some canned pumpkin, (just make sure it's pumpkin not pumpkin pie filling) add some cinnamon and splenda and it makes a great treat. i also like to add cream cheese to my pumpkin and make like a pumpkin pudding sometimes.

              Re: Sweet Tooth HelP!!

I've learned the hard way that feeding the sweet tooth with mock sweets just makes me crave more sweet stuff, artificial or not. I suggest abstaining from anything that even "tastes" sweet in the early weeks to kill the sweet tooth once and for all.

                Re: Sweet Tooth HelP!!

Sometimes I've found although I think I am craving a sweet (chocolate etc) having a slice of cheese or some of my sugar free salad dressing with some turkey/cheese rolled up gets rid of it. My pregnant co-worker's doctor told her that if she is craving sweets it's because she needs more protein, but who knows? I guess a nice buttery steak can be "sweet?"

Can anyone tell me what the best flavored protein powder is ( to use for the cookies of course) and the almond flour, and where to get it at the best prices?

My fix for a sweet tooth that won't go away is keeping a stick of really sharp cheddar cheese on hand. Just a few small slices does the trick for me.

the longer you stay on atkins the more the sweet tooth will decrease.
but here are some great recipes.

                        Re: Sweet Tooth HelP!!

I second (or is it third?) the suggestion to try and starve your sugar monster by not even giving it artificial sweetened foods initially.

Instead of 'sweet' - try highfat snacks like devilled eggs or just plain boiled eggs, or celery sticks with cream cheese or pate on them, or sweet red peppers stuffed with cream cheese, or rolled up slices of meat/cheese, etc, etc

If you dont give in and 'eat sweet' you will find that other foods start to taste sweeter too - broccolli and cherry tomatoes taste sweet to me!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
