    Re: Atkins Advantage Bar,

    Hi there,

Some would disagree but I personally would stay away from Atkins bars and other foods like this because they have a great deal of addictives, and chemicals which are not found naturally in foods. These can be addictive (causing bingeing or cheating and weight gain), I find Atkins bars give me headaches. Others find they cause upset stomachs. Each to their own however.

Ditto with gum. I try to avoid aspartame (0ften in gum) due to potential health risks. I used to chew wrigleys sugar free, however and it didn't to affect my loss.

Nuts are great but be sure you are on the correct rung before eating and keep the portions small - as the book says. I don't have it to hand but you can find out amounts etc in the stickies in the OWL forum.

      Re: Atkins Advantage Bar,

As Alexa said, many of us dont think any of the Atkins products are worth including,in our menus especially on induction, as they are heavily processed and have many additives.

If you do decide to use them then make sure you look at the list of ingredients to make sure they are all on the list of allowed foods for whatever phase of Atkins you are at.
      4. Eat absolutely no fruit, bread, pasta, grains, starchy vegetables or dairy products other than cheese, cream or butter. Do not eat nuts or seeds in the first two weeks. Foods that combine protein and carbohydrates, such as chickpeas, kidney beans and other legumes, are not permitted at this time.
      5. Eat nothing that is not on the acceptable foods list. And that means absolutely nothing!
This quote is from the rules of induction, which the Atkins company seem to ignore when they recommend using their products on induction as most of them contain ingredients like milk, nuts, seeds, fruit, soy and grains which are not introduced back into our menus till we reach the relevant level/rung of OWL.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

        Re: Atkins Advantage Bar,

i have used the bars as a snack type thing when wanting something "sweet" however i cant seem to stop at just one so i am staying away from them... also in the middle of the work day (after lunch) i need some taste ... i do chew trident.. maybe 1 piece a day average.. just to have something sweet.. its like dessert after lunch without the carbs/calories etc.. aspartime is everywhere and i do try to avoid it.. but i try and weight the pros/cons... 1 piece of gum sure beats hitting the vending machine
