  • Induction question

    Hi guys..
Its my 4th day in clean induction but I am struggling to even eat more than 10gms carb per day. My appetite has gone to zilch!

    Is this usual?

Losing the appetite is very 'par for the course.' It puts you in control of your food, isn't it great? Just make sure you get your minimum of 3 cups of veggies a day, and if you stay well under 20, that is fine, it won't hurt you. Never go more than 6 hours without eating (daylight hours.)

But your body said to you, 'oh you want me to burn fat for energy? I have plenty of that, woohoo!

        Re: Induction question

One thing to do to maximise what carbs you eat when you have a reduced appetite is to make sure you are not choosing just lettuce for your veg which have only maybe 0.3 net carbs per cup!

Sliced red peppers can be sauteed in butter so one whole cup of them (7 net carbs) cooks down into a fairly small serving as a garnish/sauce for most meats.

Or have a 1/2 cup of raw peppers mixed with a 1/2 cup of diced cucumber or celery as a salad instead of lettuce which would make about 4-5 net carbs for that meal.

Choose veg from the other list too - one cup of sliced onions sauteed in butter till soft and golden would have about 11 net carbs and again will cook down to a small portion to have with meat.

Remember that we are supposed to have 'most' of our carbs from veg, so the more veg carbs you can pack into those 3 cups, the more carbs you can have for cheese/eggs/dressings etc!!

So if you only choose lettuce which would be about 0.9 net carbs for 3 whole cups it does not really allow you much more than one egg (0.6 net carbs) as extra carbs in your menu if you are sticking to the 'most of' rule!!

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

            What Elizellen said!

Variety in your veggies will go a long way toward staving off boredom. If you haven't tried radishes (yes! Salad radishes!) sauteed, they are too die for. And you get your nutrients in your brighter, greener, redder, yellower, veggies. Pick a rainbow and your body will love you!

Phew! Glad I'm not the only one. Thought for sure something must be wonky.
