  • I am trying to get real about Aspartame

The side effects of artificial sweeteners like aspartame and Splenda: get the truth!

The link above is to a bunch of information on aspartame. It is the kind of site that presents the info and lets you make up your mind.

I am simply looking for validation to stop consuming artificial sweeteners all together...

I daily have a lapse of judgment and consume diet coke... I need to quit.. not because it is stalling me. I need to quit because I want to eliminate chemicals from my body...I want to live clean. I quit flour/ sugar/ white stuff in April. I went without coke for about a month and a half then justified having it only when I went out to eat... and somehow after about a month of justifying that I kept coming home with a case of diet coke... I swear... just blind to even buying it... kind of when I used to buy refined crap....

SO I was reading around on the WWW and wanted to share...

        Hello Kath,
Good for you wanting to get off of the chemicle based sweetners.
Glenda is right! I have some great information at the No Sweetner Challenge regarding sweetners.

Re: I am trying to get real about Aspartame

I swear quitting cigarettes was easier than giving up diet coke. I'm like you - quit for a month, then it kinda creeps back into my life without really noticing. I've switched to splenda-based drinks because aspartame definitely stalls me, but I'd like to get off the stuff entirely.

          Hang in there!

ZEVIA - WITH STEVIA - NATURE'S ANSWER TO DIET SODA

i've had the cola, orange, and lemon-lime, and a big thumbs up to all three! it is sweetened with stevia and erythritol (a safe sugar alcohol, not as good for you as xylitol but still good). yes, it has a bit of aftertaste, but it's the sweet stevia taste, and is 1000000 x better than the grody, chemical-y aspartame aftertaste.

I always carry around vanilla stevia and add drops to soda water when I'm out. it tastes like cream soda.

                  With or without caffeine?

If you are having a hard time quitting I think with. If without, wow! that is some addiction.

Try adding lemon to the water you drink, nice, fresh squeezed lemon. Add some lime at times for a change of pace.
