My hubs and I are going to see the new Coen Brothers movie today. He wants to put together some snacks. I've suggest cheese crisps, but he wants to try something new...and he hates pork rings. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Movie Snacks
I have done 2 things..one I ate prior to the movie and went without any popcorn at all. I just bought a diet soda while my husband ate popcorn.....grrrr. It was tough at first because I was distracted by the smells andthe years of being conditioned to eat during the move but after the movie started I was so engorssed in the film I forgot about snacks.
The second time I went I brought a little bag of Pepporoni and cheese slices. I only ate a few and I was good for the show.
Good Luck!

My suggestion: break old habits. Don't take anything. Enjoy the movie without the hand to mouth feeding.~Lisa~

Re: Movie Snacks
I totally agree. I have learned to not snack in front of the television at night and I think it helps. (eat after 8 = gain weight)Originally posted by *Lisa* View PostMy suggestion: break old habits. Don't take anything. Enjoy the movie without the hand to mouth feeding.

Try holding hands. It is very wholesome.
I'd love to see that move too. Wonder if I can get my hubby to go today.

You might think so, but honestly I just compared it to people opening boxes of chocolates or crunching on popcornOriginally posted by Razzle39 View PostHmmmm...My hubby loves celery, that would work for us. Was it really noisy? CRUNCH!

Re: Movie Snacks
I buy my husband celery because he says it cuts down on his apetite and then I noticed a whole jar of peanut butter was gone in a week.......I hope he is not eating the flippin celery with peanut butter!
You and your wife are so lucky to do this together. My husband refuses.

Re: Movie Snacks
Every time one of us tries to do some weight loss regimen we always try to get the other to try it as well. I personally think that there would be no way that either of us could do Atkins. We literally had to give all of our "bad" foods away to neighbors, family, and friends.Originally posted by Razzle39 View PostI buy my husband celery because he says it cuts down on his apetite and then I noticed a whole jar of peanut butter was gone in a week.......I hope he is not eating the flippin celery with peanut butter!

I pretty much wear shorts and pants with cargo pockets so my food goes in there. For Tink, she pretty much uses oversized purses so her food goes in her purse.Originally posted by DLS View PostOur movie theaters don't allow brought in foods? Do you guys sneak it in?
I found out recently when I went to the movies that they charge for the consumption of popcorn and soda, only on the sales of the bags and cups. We all know that popcorn costs only pennies a bag to make, but they charge us 5-6 bucks for it. This was explained to me when I needed another bag for my popcorn (before Atkins, people that I went to the movies with would give me all of their leftover popcorn). I asked the concession guy for another bag and he gave me this long explaination that they count the number of bags (and only charge for the bags). That's how they can "afford" to give free refills.Adam

Re: Movie Snacks
Thanks for your suggestions. We just got back. The movie was good, not great. It had quite a few funny scenes, which had the audience laughing.
I carried some cheese crisps that I made in the microwave and some sticks. We ate the crisps between the 20 minutes of coming attractions and the first 10 minutes of the movie, and were full from that. We never ate the celery. DH bought a diet soda, of which I had a few sips, but didn't like it. DH didn't even finish it by the time the movie was over.32/F/5'8"/NYC
