  • Green Tea

Does anyone know if Green tea has carbs? The fitday website says that herbal tea does. I don't know whether to choose herbal or leaf tea when placing it on my foods for the day.
I understand that green tea is suppose to be really good for you so I want to have a cup or two a day.

    Thanks

    Re: Green Tea

I believe fitday is correct. I've done some googling and it seems that pretty much all teas and coffee have a slight amount of carbs in them. Granted it's small, but it is there. As you saw on Fitday, 8 fl oz of herbal tea has 0.47g of carbs. I would say that it is acceptable in that sense. Just watch on the caffeine. Green tea does caffeine (25mg), which is smaller than black tea (47mg).

Funny thought on caffeine. Even decaf coffee has caffeine. 5.6mg per 8 oz. This is much smaller than full strentgh coffee (145mg per 8oz).

US federal regulations require that in order for coffee to be labeled decaffeinated that it must have it's caffeine level reduced by no less than 97.5%.

    Sorry for the lecture

      Re: Green Tea

I only drink the decaf and I also count the 1 carb for the splenda I put in there.

It is something yummy besides coffee which I use 1 splenda and cream, so even more carbs there! UUUgggghhh!

I suppose the more I do this the easier it will get.

Interestingly....if you use instant unsweetened tea, it has less carbs that freshly brewed.....
