  • Why no induction when breastfeeding?

Hi everyone. Okay, so maybe this is a stupid question.
I can understand why we wouldn't want to be on induction when we're pregnant, but don't all ladies want to start losing weight as soon as they have their babies? I read DANDR and it only says no induction during pregnancy/brastfeeding. Is it too much protein for the baby? (My baby is 16 months old - today!-) but I've just been sort of curious about this. I breastfed her the first year. I am currently on induction. So, does anyone know more about this? how long should we wait? If you breastfeed occasionally, does this count? (like once a day)

one of the early mods here discussed this with her lactating coach her doc and the baby's doc and was told when she was no longer the primary fod source for the child she could continue nursing and lose weight on Atkins.

Another said her doc said she could do it immediately. When you are losing weight your body will look for ways to lslow down calorie usage and it could effect your milk amount production rate is why they tell you to wait. Most docs estimate it takes about 500 cals a day to breast feed in production for the kid so you have a deficiet built up there already. Then nutrients are limited in Induction so you might not get all the nutrinets in the form of vits and minerals the growing baby needs is another reason folk tell you to wait.

What did your doc and the baby's doc say about it?

Actually, I didn't ask my doctor. I just waited.
