  • Not losing much

I had not lose much in the 1st 14 days induction and will be extending my induction. I need to know what went wrong.

I suspect that I had eaten more vege than I should. Usually are butterheads, romaine or other lettuces. Limit to only 4 cherry tomatoes every few days. I had roast chicken thigh, steaks, beef soup, fish soup, porkchops, roast pork, roast duck as my main source of meat.

I had meat buns w/o bun or egg for breakfast. Sometimes omelette wif sausages, hard oiled egg in mayo.

For salad, I had ceasar dressing, I check the carbs, it's 2gms per serving of 2 Tbsp.

Had small amount of tofu on 2 of the 14 days.

I had not cut off my morning coffee as I had severe addiction and will get headache. My job requires attention to statistic, I can't mess up so I kept my coffee. Had Green tea in the afternoon. No sugar, not even sweetener. We are not able to get Splenda here in S'pore.

I must have had eaten some sugar that is in the chilli sauce. I've cut that off.

Is this why I lose only abt 4.5 pounds in 14 days?

What sud I improve in my extended induction. Am I eating too little of fats?

Advise and help will be appreciated.

    Re: Not losing much

Do you know how many carbs or fats or proteins you ate? If you use a counter site like Fitday you could figure it out. I don't really think the veggies are the problem. Were yo cooking the meals yourself so you know what went into them? Don't forget to drink water, water and water.

4.5 pound is good. What are you stats? Hight and weight?

      Re: Not losing much

Current wt 68kg/150 pounds. Ht 1.68 mtr...about 5ft 4" I think. We use metric here.

Fitday may not 100% help us calculate the carbs etc... coz our food and cooking differs. More of chinese and asian food.

Hmmm, I had roast chicken and they had honey as 1 of the marinate. That is a problem right?

I just wonder if I had not eaten enough fats. Other than the meat, the source of my oil comes from the salad dressing that has olive oil.

I haven't had much trouble wif my induction though I do missed carbs the 1st wk.

        Re: Not losing much

Fitday works all over the world. For whatever it does not list, you can make a custum entry. Not like you have to use it (or another calorie counter) but if you worry about your proportions you may have to start a closer look. I doubt that anyone here can tell just by looking at what you wrote - there are not portion sizes etc.

How about cooking your meat in oils or fats? Eating fatty cuts?

If you eat out a lot you may run in to issues with sugars and starches used in marinades especially where you are. Those could hold you back. What were in those soups you ate? Just keep picking what you are eating a part and clean up - no sugars, no starches, no sauces.

          Re: Not losing much

I am about the same weight/height as you....4.5 in two weeks is not bad. I think becasue we are closer to our suggested weights it will come off slower...Week one for me (with one cheat evening)--I lost two lbs. So I expect two more this week???? Even with you.

Last time I did this diet and it worked (when I stuck to it)--it was 8 years ago. I was 140 and dropped to 130 for my wedding in about 3 months. Took a while...but it did work.

again--It is hard dropping just two per week when others drop 8 or whatever...I extended the two week period (jsut like you are) and all I can say is sooner or later the pounds will add up. Just takes a bit longer IMO since less to lose.

I would be thrilled if I lose another 2.5 this week!

Thanks you for the advice. I am reading more in this section and I think I am on the right path. I am into my 3rd wk now, havn't seen the scale dip yet. I am getting more cautious with sauces and soup this wk. Hopig to see better results. One thing for sure, my pants are getting loose.

HELLO! Wanted to update you--I am about where you are....end of second week with two cheat days....down about 4 lbs. I think we are "average" according to the little math I did. Less than 20 to lose makes a difference.....

              GOOD LUCK!

                Re: Not losing much

We can expect to lose between 5% and 10% of our total hoped for loss on the first 14 day of induction.

So a loss of 4 pounds is good for someone with 30 pounds to lose, and average for someone with about 60 pounds to lose. Only if you have 100 pounds or more to lose would 4 pounds lost be less than 5%!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Yes, you did well, airbud 4.5 pounds gone already out of 30 is excellent!

I would not stay on induction for much longer, but move to OWL first rung (although from your first post on the thread you might already be there ) and then on up the carbohydrate ladder.

Don't dispare. I was just re-reading the Atkins book and it talks about different metabolims and some of us just have slower metabolisms and your weight lose can be perfectly normal for your body. As it adjusts, it may pick up for you. In the mean time 2 sugggestions, are you getting enough water and not drinking diet pop? And are you exercising?

                        Re: Not losing much

I am doing some light exercise due to some orthopedic condition and I don't drink any pop.

I manage to lose another 2 pound on 3.5wk, I guess it is ok as long as the weight is dropping. This is one diet that I don't have to starve and be hungry. Just some adjustment here and there.

I am still on induction. I'm giving myself another week to make it a month in total.
